Will a cup of water financially ruin this business?...I visited the Westfield, NJ location on Sunday, July 21, 2024. I ordered 2 medum sized ice coffees, a chocolate croissant, and a plain croissant. The total was about $20 plus tip. My drinks were made promplty, as they normally are. When my order was ready, I brought it to the outside seating area where my boyfriend and dog were waiting. I quickly noticed that I forgot to bring a bottle of water to place in my dog's silicone travel bowl. I walked back into the store and asked the employee if I could have a cup of water. I could immidiately tell that she was less than thrilled to give me a cup, but she turned to grab one despite that. I thought I saw her reach for the ice, so I told her there was no need for ice as it was meant to be shared with my dog. At that moment, she frightenly told me that she would likely be unable to give me a cup of water and that she needed to go to the back to ask for permission. She mentioned that there was a dog bowl out front and I told her that it was nearly empty, in the hot sun, and had dirt floating in it. She proceeded to walk to the back kitchen and brought out the woman that had taken my paid order the first time. The woman told me that she could not give me a cup and proceeded to say "Mami, we have a sink in the bathroom." While I don't mind having to grab water for my dog from the bathroom sink, the employees did not know that I had a silicone bowl outside. Did they expect me to grab the store bowl, wash it, and change the water in their bathroom? The store was not busy and the entire situation was ridiculous. It shouldn't have been as dramatic as they made it out to be. I can't help but be bothered by the fact that I mentioned the poor conditions of the dog bowl, and no one came out to change the water while my we sat outside for about an hour after the incident. I'm also bothered by the fact that someone truly in need of water may walk into the store, and be treated as less than a human for a basic need. While I understand that the employees' behavior is likely due to uppermanagement's instructions, I do not plan to not return here. I visit this location 1-2 times weekly and felt belittled for asking for water. Other coffee shops, such as Track 5 in Cranford, offer water dispensers and cheap plastic cups for their customers to drink from. Maybe Rock 'n' Joe could...

Over the last year we've been to this place three or four times, every time with exceptional food and service.
However the last time it was a completely different experience. Not terrible but not nearly the same as we expected from previous visits. Hence my question is this place Under New Management.
Although it was not terrible, this last visit was hardly exceptional.
Some examples were, ie.we received items that didn't match the description in the menu.
I understand that a place may run out of certain ingredients but shouldn't they inform you before they serve you something different?
Also the rock and roll memorabilia Decor was all removed. This was a nice touch on top of the good food and the good service.
We will probably give this place one more chance. I'll update the review if our last visit was a fluke.
However we can get mediocre food mediocre service and mediocre Ambience closer to...
