Read moreStopped in because of the high ratings here. Walked out disappointed. First thought getting into my burrito, "white people making Mexican food".
Atmosphere was great with fun, colorful murals everywhere. Service was great. Food, not so much.
Our table started with the 'street corn guacamole'. I thought it was too salty and too citrusy. Mom and sis thought it was ok. Can't remember price, but the bowl was tiny. I ordered the 'big Papas' burrito, I was enticed by the bacon refried beans. First thing I noticed when I held it (it's a hand held situation) was the temperature, room temp at best. Enough lettuce and tomato IN the burrito that I felt like I was eating cold food. (This is why authentic Mexican restaurants put these ingredients on the side, and then the meat/rice/beans in the burrito are hot.) Flavor/spice profile was very underwhelming, not enough meat. Also had a Korean bbq taco. Lots of flavor, but mostly tastes like pickled jalapeños. Bbq flavor didn't come through. Again, more meat please. Mom and sis split three different tacos, to try more items. Kbbq, sweet heat, and the blue dream. They finished two, two halves left over. Sis referring to the blue dream, "I'd rather have a Taco Bell taco." My large classic margarita was fine flavor wise, but on the weak side. Server didn't ask whether I wanted it blended, got the on-the-rocks version. Sis got coconut lemonade and she liked it. They certainly try with some of their specific ingredients, but fall short of orchestrating cohesive flavors. I will say that all the ingredients seemed very fresh. I'd consider popping in again for a happy hour drink, because the murals are fun, but would probably spend my meal...
Read moreWe had such a good time! It was our first visit and although I'm a taco freak who will try anything, hubby is a bit more simple. The atmosphere was fun with vibrant colored walls. It was small but it wasn't crowded to where you were eating with the people at the next table. The choices for seating was great too. Physically I am unable to sit on a stool or a high top table so having the option was nice. Patio seating was an option and that's where we chose to sit. It was a nice day and did start to cool down a bit but there were patio heaters for those kind of days. Not today but it was really nice when we got there.
The menu could've been in Chinese for my simple food husband but our server, Ryan was on it. He knew the menu and was very patient in answering our questions and did his best describing some of the choices. We would thank him and ask for a few minutes and his timing couldn't have been more perfect when he returned to the table. We joked that ordering exhausted us but Ryan was amazing! He didn't skip a beat.
The food was great! Ryan came out as soon as it was brought to our table to make sure it looked okay and recognized immediately that hubby's was not correct. Took it away and replaced it quickly. I got the easy pleasey burrito which was HUGE! Think of a Chipotle burrito on steroids and OMGosh, so good!
The only bad part about our visit was the spider that I had to single handedly take down. Think WWE cage match. If anyone saw this battle, it was memorable for sure!
Ryan! You were amazing, patient, knowledgeable and made us want to come back! Thank you so much for making our first visit a...
