I was going to go 4 stars, but just so many little things wrong it has to add up somewhere. To start their menu, at least for lunch, is terribly cut down. A few half sandwich soup/ salad option and nothing much to speak of fine regardless as I planned to get the “triple grind burger” listed on their menu as having prime rib, and whatever other 2 meats ground into it. I found just a “grind burger” listed which was fine $17 as listed for the one on the menu. At that price tag I’d expect it to be excellent and decent size. I originally ordered it medium rare, then corrected myself and said to the waitress “this is a real restaurant so medium should be pink yes?” To which she laughed and agreed. Got my burger you guessed completely brown through as the chick’s was and she ordered hers medium well. 🤦♂️ anyway decent burger pattie, not anything out of the ordinary. It was good overcooked, but nothing impressive and to boot even tho the menu in the restaurant also said $17 they were $18 each not that that matters if it’s a quality product. The fries were honestly terrible. They came out barely warm and were these little pathetic shoe string variety. We ate years ago at a similar place to this in strongsville and they were legit, big golden brown piping hot with a rosemary sprig and fresh ground salt. These were a dull tan, undercooked and like I said like warm at best. Covered in piles of Parmesan, the ground variety and tiny pieces of rosemary. We can keep going on the meh… I drink a lot of water, it’s good for you, everyone should. I purposely finished off the water as we waited for our food when it was almost gone. It sat there empty my glass and the bottle as our food came and every time the waitress came back. Yeah I could’ve asked for more water, but come on. High end restaurant supposedly that they start out pouring your water for you get it together. Overheard the table behind us having some conversation about he’d take whatever he ordered home to someone as the waitress had told him it had never been sent back. Can’t imagine that was a positive take on the food. Our kid got the chicken tenders. They looked fine and at $6 with fries acceptable. She liked the look of the parmesan ones so we piled ours onto her plate as both of the adults were in no way impressed with nor inclined to eat them and the kids fries were plain. Not really the experience I was hoping for. You get 2 burgers and a kids chicken tender for lunch for $60 you’d expect it to be on point. Idk how this place has a 4.4/5 rating on here as that’s why I decided to try it. Just bit really impressed. At this price point Cheesecake Factory or Wild...
Read moreOur particular trip wasn’t all that good and I feel like we could’ve been just the unlucky ones that didn’t get a well cooked dinner. Brussels were pretty good along with the bread. For having a bacon vinaigrette on them the Brussels were somehow lacking salt or even an acidity to them. They were crispy though and texture wise were good but didn’t have a good balance of flavor.
Main course wise I ordered steak medium rare and my fiancé got medium well. Her steak ended up being medium rare to rare and was somehow more pink than mine. I understand a thick sirloin is not an easy steak to cook because of its thickness but whoever is cooking back there on Saturday nights should know how to feel a steak and know when it’s done enough.
My steak was well cooked, so no complaints there but again, I think the issue came with two different steaks on the same order and one being thicker than the other.
My biggest issue was the lobster risotto. This was a poorly made risotto and although I knew something was off I continued to press on as I thought it might be because it was under seasoned (needed a good deal of salt). Within a few hours of being home though I was already feeling sick. My guess is maybe the lobster in it was bad but in either case the point is even before leaving the restaurant I wasn’t feeling well after eating it.
Normally, this poor showing of food deserves a very low rating but they get some stars back because A. The restaurant is beautiful and is a perfect ambiance for a date or get together and B. The level of service from the wait staff and managerial staff was extremely good. We had multiple people check on us throughout our meal, not just our waitress. Our waitress never missed a water pour but wasn’t a helicopter over the table. She had really good balance.
Just figured I’d give this place my two cents as it was an interesting situation where I loved one part of this place as much as I hated another. I probably won’t come back as mentally I don’t think I can trust a place that gets me sick ever. That being said, I think that we could’ve just been unlucky and that you should still try it even if it’s just for cocktails and...
Read moreCelebrated my wife's birthday here. Went on a Tuesday evening. Reservation set to 6:30 pm. Very accommodating to handicap persons as my dad had to drive in on a scooter. Steve set up the table and area so my dad could be comfortable. Free parking, no valet, as you don't need it Since the parking is right there. Since we had 9 people in our party, they gave us two waitresses to get us started. The atmosphere is very romantic and intimate with low lightning but you could still see your food. Perfect if you're trying to take someone on a date. In my opinion this place is a high-end restaurant. They have outdoor seating as well, on the front patio. Customer service was top notch. I brought in my wife's birthday cake, Steve put it directly in the refrigerator in the back with the candle. Calamari was the best I ever had. Every time I eat calamari it tastes kind of rubbery. But not this place. I cleaned the plate. The calamari sauce whatever it was, was addictive. I ordered the ribeye which was not on the menu but the waitress said they had a special $54. I like my steak prepared medium well. It was cooked to perfection and it was brought to the table at the perfect temperature. Hot, straight from the grill. The rose mashed potatoes were whipped like your grandma used to whip you with a switch that you picked out from the front yard tree. Perfect. My wife ordered the ribeye as well, no complaints there either. The only thing that was kind of different was that if you brought your own cake and if they cut it up and bring it out to you, it will be a $3 charge per person. That would have been an extra $27. But since we had cupcakes, They didn't have to cut it up. They just added the candle. In conclusion, since there's a party of nine they only allow one bill not to split it. We weren't trying to split it anyway, But just so you know. 20% added to the bill for gratuity. The tip came up to about $95. So with everything included, it came up to about $70 per person for the whole meal including my two drinks and the appetizers. Overall I would say this is the place that I would take my family again for a celebration or a date night...
