Crab Kitchen Cajun Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Westland

My girlfriend and I were down in the Westland area for my state bowling tournament. One of the best parts of going out of town is to try new food places that are not in the area where we live. As we were leaving the bowling alley on my last day of bowling we were driving past this place, and it caught our eye as we don't have any crab places up North where we live. The outside like some of the reviews mentioned was not much to look at, and there was only a single car in the lot as we drove by before checking some of the reviews on here, but we were seriously talking about going back to give it a try before we even read the few reviews we did. We got there fairly early in the afternoon and as we got back the parking lot had gotten a few more cars in the few minutes it took us to find a place to turn around and go back. As others have said in their reviews, we left very satisfied after eating our meal. We were greeted with a smile, felt very welcomed as we entered, which with only a single server there as other have pointed out was likely the owner and his wife in the kitchen cooking, and promptly show to our table. I asked for food recommendation, and he immediately said to try the boils. We both got a 1-pound boil with snow crab and shrimp, I had the Cajun hot, and my girlfriend had a milder flavor, both of us very much enjoyed the food. What more can you ask for in an establishment such as this than spectacular service, food brought fairly promptly, and very good food. If I could give more stars in my rating I would. 1st ate here on my my anniversary April 28th 2001 my experience was great my seafood came hot fresh and was simply delicious so I decided so order again yesterday at work for lunch saddens me to say I was truly disappointed my seafood was rubbery the sauce was gritty the eggs had to be at least 2 days oldsad to say I'm very disappointed then I see that my muscles were not cleaned properly they still had the beard attached and other nasty looking stuff on it I was happy about the seafood place cause they're in my neighborhood and I love seafood but I don't think I will order again Just wasted my hard earned $50 had to throw the whole bag in the garbage with pictures to prove it im totally Discussed

Update i have been back at least four times since my last review and I must say im glad i didn't give up on this place first the owner did replace but not my entire order so i was not happy i felt like they just threw something together and just all bad but i didn't give up cause i love seafood and they are not to far from my work and home but everytime i weny back they have been on point well i did ask for head on and got head off shrimp but still it was great i hope they continue to give the best service I will order again and would recomend them but plz watch your Consistency and if a person pays over $50+++you should replace they entire order not just what you want to give them when he replaced my order it was very small and stuff that i dont eat gave me a bit of a hard time but its tasty enough for me to try again ppl work hard for their money and dont want to feel like its going in the trash ...thank you from this front line worker that nerver stopped during this...

::update:: I loved the meal so much last week that I've raved about it to anyone within shouting distance. I also decided to get it for myself as a birthday meal. I did what I said and added the shrimp and made it a level spicier. In short, it was horrible. No spice difference was noted. The sauce was not really a sauce, more of a greasy mess. It was so greasy that the shells were soft and almost translucent. Where I could crack them last week, this week I had to cut them with scissors. The crabmeat was so saturated it was yellow and falling apart. The meat seemed to have absorbed all the sodium in the dish. I don't expect my mind to be blown every time, but this drastic of a difference is worth mentioning. Additional problems, my egg was busted and was falling apart into mush in the sauce. Also, the hush puppies were burnt. Night and day.

Listen. LISTEN TO ME. This is the best meal I've had in a year. My 2 cluster snow crab came in a bag of butter, juices, and sides. I was a hot mess. I actually asked my husband not to look at me 😂 because I was covered in butter and juice but I didn't care. It was SOOOOO good. 15/10 would recommend. Next time I will be adding shrimp to mine and making it a bit spicier (I chose the mild 1st time out). My husband isn't a seafood fan and got the pork schnitzel which he said was delish.
