These folks went above and beyond for my order. I ordered 6 rolls for a ladies meeting at my Catholic Church which took place up the street, and I ordered two rolls that ended up going home with me. Making it a total of 8 and my bill ran around $56 -$60 with the tip. I selected 7 different variety of sushi rolls. 3 were Vegan and the others had either Salmon, Eel, tuna, or Beef. The sushi chef here put 6 of the rolls on a very nice tray that had a hard plastic dome making it easy to transport. Inside the tray was adorned it with fresh large tea leaves and other greenery, a fresh purple dendrobium orchid blossom and he even put a section of the glass noodles and wasabi in one area and awesome pickled ginger in another area of the tray And arranged the sushi beautifully making it a wonderful presentation for all to share in. He then packed in a separate bag, the beef onion rolls that were thin sliced rolled cooked beef, in a sauce and oh my gosh so awesome those were so incredibly good its now going to be my Saturday night go to place especially for the beef onion rolls after doing our meatless Fridays in our household. As for the tray of Mika Sushi that I brought to the meeting, my food item at the meeting shined brightly among the other snacks that each person was to bring. Why did it shine? IT EVEN HAD A GREEN Illuminating LITTLE BATTERY OPERATED LIGHT tucked in the food tray!!!!!I was blown away at the care these folks did for my business. And 3 of the the rolls were the less expensive hand rolls to boot its not like the whole order were the most expensive hand rolls! I did order two orders of the appetizer -the beef green onion rolls to take into the meeting, but instead took them home because the tray itself was more than enough for the event. I am glad I did take the beef rolls home, WOW so good, it surprises me just how good those beef rolls are! They have a sauce, and are rolled with green onion in the center. I am glad they didn't end up in the meeting, they were too good to share, the kind of food you just want to gobble up and say MINE MINE! hehe :) As for the hand rolls on the tray, some were savory, one had a little sweet to it, all of them had their own individual flavor * ALL were very very very nice.A total thumbs up. Read moreWow. We were blown away by the sushi here. Everything we had was so flavorful. Usually we settle for grocery store sushi because we eat it so often that we can’t go to a sit down place every time. We decided to give this place a try after receiving some coupons in the mail, which were really good value btw.
The presentation of the food itself was surprising. Our sushi boat came with an ice sculpture! My husband’s chicken katsu came with a white rice mound in the shape of a heart! The attention to small details on our plates caught my attention as it is not something we experience often when we do decide to have sushi in-restaurant.
Lastly, but arguably the best thing about this place, was the attentive service. I saw some negative reviewer say that the wait staff hovers. As someone who has just a pinch of social anxiety, I did not get that vibe at all. If my water was low it was promptly refilled. When I finished my wine I was immediately offered more. I should also mention that the wait staff was really nice.
We don’t usually treat ourselves to dinner outings simply because we like to spend money on other things, but I am really glad we had an evening here and I bet we will be back there again - and probably once a month thereafter.
It is a new establishment so one thing I would like to mention (if the owner reads this) is that the music being played was nice but pretty quiet. We were there on a Saturday night and it was odd being out and feeling like we had to keep our voices down so as to not disturb other people. Don’t be afraid to turn up the volume a little more to match like...
Read moreWe are always looking for new sushi spots to try locally. After reading the reviews, I was really excited to try this place out. We were greeted with a warm smile and sat immediately. Our waitress was extremely sweet and attentive. We placed our order, and my daughter ordered a root beer. Our waitress informed us that the sodas come in a can, I'm not sure why, but I really dislike getting a soda can while dining out. Our waitress returned a short time later with our drinks and informed me that they were out of the Toro that I ordered. I was really looking forward to trying it, but I told her it was no biggie. We ordered the chicken fried rice with our sushi, and it was very delicious and flavorful. Our sushi arrived after just a few minutes of placing our order. They work very fast!
Now, this is where the 3 stars come in. The sushi rice was almost hot and quite soggy and mushy. I'm not a fan of warm rice with my nigiri/sushi. One of the sushi chefs was eating with his bare hands while preparing sushi. He saw that I saw him and "rinsed" his hands quickly. It was a little icky! Then, when we were getting up to leave, we noticed a really large gross glob of slimy food of some sort under our table. The experience started off really well, and I was so excited to give this place a 5-star review, but as time went on, I was losing my appetite rapidly. I can't honestly say if we will or will not return. Hopefully, it was just an off...
