This was my Favorite Thai Restaurant Until Today. Called the phone number that I found online to place an order that I planned to pick up myself. The person taking the order had never heard of "curry" or "fish balls." I was concerned that the order taker wouldn't get it right. After hanging up, I got a text from GrubHub regarding my order. As I didn't think I ordered through GrubHub, I immediately found another number to call the restaurant. The same person answered the call. I asked if this was the restaurant or Grub Hub. Her response was "yes." After asking several times she finally told me that one number is GrubHub and the other is the restaurant. If you call the Grub Hub number you pay an extra fee (even if you are picking your order up) and you must pay in cash.
I told her that I would be paying with a credit card and was not interested in paying an additional fee as I would be picking the order up myself. She told me that the GrubHub order would then need to be cancelled before putting in the restaurant order. I asked her how I do that, and she told me the owner of the restaurant had to cancel the order and he was busy cooking in the kitchen. Not wanting to be in this episode of the Twilight Zone, I cancelled everything and got food around the corner.
If this scheme of rotating phone numbers is supposed to be a way to trick customers into paying an additional fee, I'm...
Read moreAwesome food. I’m a regular for drunken noodles, tom yum soup, ginger lover entree, Penang curry, and/or pineapple fried rice. They do have a big menu, and someday I’ll try it all but my regulars are so good it’s hard to stray. Why are drunken noodles so good here? I can eat an entree of just the noodles and I’m not a pasta/noodle person. If it’s a cold day, try the Tom yum. I order the broth whenever I’m sick and I’m telling you….its got to be the lemongrass or something in this that can bring a human back to life. I have dined-in but almost always call an order to go. Phone service can be tricky if you want something custom-made. Between language barriers and the hearing-impaired staff normal vocal speech should be slowed down with a little patience. But huge perk—-ASL can be/is used when certain staff is working and that makes my heart happy—great for kiddos who are still learning speech too! When dining in, just know that there’s usually only 1 server. The door does not automatically shut so on cold windy days that chill can bother you. but still—-the food is worth the wait and I’ll get over the finicky door. My overall feel is that whomever is in the kitchen loves cooking Thai food. I’ve never met them, but I feel love when I eat Ying Thai. And most importantly, I feel good/healthy...
Read more*****UPDATED I decided to try this restaurant again since the other Thai place was closed. As usual, the food was delicious. However, the food was ready in 30 minutes, compared to the previous times when it took over an hour. So, I was quite happy and decided to update my review.
ORIGINAL POST* First of all, the food has always been delicious. I particularly like the fact that they have delivery. The problem is, that it takes an hour for carryout or delivery. They may say 15-20, but it is never ready and the past 7 times that I ate here it had taken an hour for the food. The last time I ordered online and paid via PayPal. Yet, even showing my receipt on my phone that PayPal gave me, I had to pay again in the restaurant because they could not find the transaction. So, I had to file a dispute on PayPal to get my money back. I am still waiting. Luckily, Tim thai is right down the street and they are really good too but do not offer delivery. I am very disappointed. I liked ordering online and that there was no language translation problems that can occur...
