TLDR: This is my favorite spot in Colorado. So good that we got our wedding dessert from them (and it was a HUGE hit!)
If you follow GetRight’s on social media, you know that Matt brings a particular vulnerability to starting and running a business that you just don’t find much elsewhere. He and Lindsey have shared their challenges in starting up a business during Covid while also starting a family.
Sometimes I get the sense at other restaurants and businesses that the decision makers figure out what shortcuts to take to drive costs down while maximizing how much they can charge folks. It makes sense. That’s the clearest way to a profitable business.
GetRight’s is different though.
If they take shortcuts, I can’t find em. I’ve had dozens of foods from them: pizza, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, cinnamon rolls, a BLT that caused me to make some questionable sounds as I was eating it. Every single thing they make has been delicious, flawless, and usually gorgeous too. Where other businesses focus on how to keep costs low, this one focuses on how to make the absolute best product that they can.
My (now) wife and I asked if they could do 150 various pastries and desserts for our wedding. In talking with Matt and Lindsey, we learned that she was due to give birth just a couple days after the wedding. If we had been turned away, we totally would have understood. But they made it happen!
To me that’s an indicator of yet another success with this business. The product is excellent, but how is it managed? Being able to delegate and trust the team to execute I’m sure was another challenge, but I saw no issues from the customer side.
To me, food is community. Sitting around a table gabbing with friends and family is what life is all about. I love to break bread with loved ones. It was important to us that that same love for food and for people was evident at our wedding. GetRight’s exceeded expectations, which were already so high.
I hope this bakery continues to grow and thrive and that other restaurants are inspired to reach for this level. My one regret in sharing this review is that the line will be longer. I assure you, their food is worth every single penny and worth every minute in line.
Thank you GetRights for making your dream a reality. Everybody wins...
Read moreThe food is good, but overpriced. Service is chaotic at best, with a thin veneer of niceties which will crack at the slightest pressure. Atmosphere is the pits, two tables jammed next to the register. They are busy enough that customers typically have to wait outside until their order is ready, fyi. But here’s the real problem… ATTITUDE!! I tried asking about a charity fundraiser, the co owner Lindsey was unaware of her businesses’ participation, & blasted me with the following: “we can’t afford to donate” followed by “we sell out of that so why would we donate anything?” Y’all are selling $4 Canalé?! $8 baguette?! $12 slice of pizza?! Lines everytime I go, & Lindsey’s own admission that they “sell out everyday” but “can’t afford to donate”??? Disappointing to see such selfishness coming from what is obviously a very successful operation. No apologies either, instead they either restricted or blocked me from their Instagram account, real nice! Very unprofessional, thanks for showing your true colors, I will no longer be supporting your summer vacations to Europe from this point on.
Edit: Here is the “verbally abusive” IG message that I sent (privately, not on blast): “ Glad we’re on the same page, as Lindsey needs to get off the counter. I came in yesterday & had a very awkward & uncomfortable interaction with her, that left me wondering if I had been deceived. Long story short, I asked her about the charity bakesale that y’all were advertising you were participating in. Lindey’s response: “We can’t afford to donate”, followed by “we sell out of that every day so why would we donate?” There’s a line every time I arrive… You can take summer vacations in Europe… but “can”t afford to donate”??? Please clarify for me, was Lindsey (the owner) actually unaware of the philanthropic gesture that was attempted, or was she purposely steering me away from the charitable item for purchase? Either way, I was left feeling uncomfortable & unwelcome. Thought you may want to reflect on that.“
I’d love to know where the verbal abuse is?!
These people are gas lighters of the highest order. I told you I was made to feel uncomfortable & unwelcome, no acknowledgement, no apologies. Vote with your dollar people, there are other bakeries that do possess a shred...
Read moreI cannot begin to adequately describe the out of body pastry breakfast experience I had here. We kicked things off with staring into the display case with complete awe and admiration as we began the tall task of deciding which lil beauty we were gonna make ours. After intent deliberation we moved forward with the salami sando, which is not what we came here for but I’ll tell ya, it’ll be why we come back. Capers, tomatos, eggplant, salami and arugula adorned in an exquisitely textured focaccia. A harmony that was truly made in heaven. We then set our sights on the pastries. We kicked that rodeo off with a piece of carrot cake that was moister than an oyster and cream cheese frosting that’ll have me day dreaming for weeks to come. Next we sank our worn out forks into a lil cup of tiramisu and the fluffyness, let me tell ya, was out of this world. The balance of sweet fluffy mascarpone, delectably soaked lady fingers, and the healthy, yet appropriate, dash of espresso powder had my mouth in a whirling dirvish of excitement. You better believe we had one more treat left in us. The salted maple cinnamon bun put me in chokehold of wonder as I tore through the crispy glazed edges in immense anticipation of making my way to the center. It DID NOT disappoint. All around, just incredible. And the staff, wow. So kind, attentive, caring and obviously oh so talented. I really...
