Hopper's Sports Grill — Restaurant in Wheat Ridge

Love this bar in the summer! The outdoor sand volleyball pit is so much fun! You can feel like you are on the beach while next to a busy highway in land locked Colorado. The outdoor bar and patio next to the sand pit is really quite nice and comfortable. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed, but occasionally the music is a bit loud. Inside there are a few pretty decent pool tables, plenty of seating both at the bar and around the room. They often play trivia, have karaoke, and I think that they play poker sometimes. They often have theme nights which can be a lot of fun! I know that they charge a small cover on most weekends and maybe on certain theme nights. This is a great bar and has been a big part of the community for a long time. While there were times the surrounding neighborhood hasn't been the greatest, it is improving a lot again now (which makes it a safer place for drunk wanderers after dark). The parking area is huge, and seems to attract bikes and 4 wheelers regularly. I forget if the food was great, or if it was just ok. I at least know that it wasn't...

What a sh**hole. We went in and sat down for over ten minutes while the terrible staff flirted with the drunk bar flies. Another couple walked in shortly after, and received immediate service. Then a group walked in and immediately got service. My boyfriend approached the waitress to say we've been waiting for service. The dumb "manager" said you're joking right? So she took our order in the rudest manner then continued to blame her personal life for her lack of ability to do her job. I decided to cancel our order because they would probably treat our food like trash. So I walked up to cancel it and she was talking terrible about us to her peers. And their owner is just as useless. Never going back...

I like the vibe of this place. Great drink specials, but I haven't eaten here yet. If you like volleyball or want to relive the Top Gun days, this place is magical. I want to take a big group of people here just to do that. Lots of pool tables, games, and TV's. They have regulars here, but we have felt very welcome the three times we have gone by the regulars and staff. It is a sports bar with tunes and fun, so it depends on what you are looking for. I only give it a 4 because of the parking situation, as you sort of have to park in the back street that dead ends. Otherwise, cool spot for some dumb fun or to watch a game...and play...
