Wow! What great food! Theyāre doing some great things in the kitchen! I was hungry after a nursing, shift, but didnāt know what to eat for dinner. I was thinking either Indian or Mediterranean. Iām a sucker for a good falafel, so, Mediterranean it was. After a quick search on google maps, I looked past the myriad restaurants with āpitaā in their name, and zoned in (pun intended) on one that had a 4.9 user rating. I read a few reviews and that was all I needed. Pita Zone, here I come! I had to see what the hype was about. It was just 10 minutes away. Once inside, the place was well lit; cool hanging light fixtures; bright with the warm glow of yellow incandescents, not that annoying white LEDās. You can order directly with a staff member or on your own, at the large menu screen. I chose the latter, so I could take my time. Having already perused the online reviews, I was pretty sure what I wanted. I like spicy food, so, the natural thing to get was their chicken 911. Help! It came with rice, salad, and garlic sauce. That dish was fire!! (Pun intended. Lol) Spicy, yes, (6 or 7 scale) BUTā¦itās SO flavorful! It wasnāt burn your tonsils out for not reason, and no flavor. It was enjoyable. It made me want to take another bite each time. If you already eat spicy food, I believe, like me, youāll really enjoy it. The falafel was fresh, hot, and crispy. I also ordered a side of hummus. It was creamy, and had a slightly sweet flavor, which I didnāt mind. To top off my meal, for dessert, ordered baklava. One of the best Iāve eaten! It was nice and brown, perfectly baked, with the perfect combination of crispness and sweetness! Yum-O!!! If you like Mediterranean food, definitely visit the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went at 7:45 pm evening for Dinner . Ordered Meat lovers entree . I was very disappointed. The Kabob , and ALL ITEMS ARE PREGRILLED & Kept and was warmed up on grill or other means and served. The chicken shish tawook , the chicken kabob had same flavor. Very small piece of Chicken fillet given The beef kabob was not well done and could see Pink raw meat inside ( Reason : outside well done since it was pre grilled ) cannot recook and make it well done) The Shawarma Grill on the Vertical Rod placed was not on , but pieces were cut and put into a pan to warm and re cook on stove. Oil was taken from container & put in the pan. This gave a raw oil smell and it was hard bits of Beef Shawarma. The falafel was not well cooked inside , it had green dough unfried inside. I called the Manager and showed him the state of Grill and Kaboob. To top it all they just gave ONE PITA bread cut into 2 pcs...for this Big platter . Baba Ganouj was just poured from the can and placed in the plate, no olive oil poured on. The salad served had on yellow turned leaves of lettuce. Rice was OK but had lots of oil as Oil poured in pan to grill n heat shawarma spilled in the rice. I di not eat half of the dish.
Near by is PITTA INN in naperville , look at the freshness , Pita breads given and the service. Look at the food taste and quality...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFantastic new addition to the Wheaton area! My friends introduced me to the wonderful world of shawarma, kefta, hummus, and other Mediterranean delights at Pita House further east on Roosevelt. Unfortunately Pita House closed down years ago, and Glen Ellyn briefly had "Pita Life" when I moved here in 2023, but I'd read wildly mixed reviews of that place and never made it over there before it turned into "Pie Life".
Until Pita Zone came along, you basically had to drive to either Jerusalem Cafe in Lombard or Pita Inn in Naperville for this kinda cuisine. My wallet kinda winces at Pita Inn's prices and Jerusalem Cafe feels just a bit too far for a spur of the moment shawarma craving, though.
Luckily Pita Zone's arrived and brings some MUCH needed delicious and authentic food to Wheaton. I tried the gyros wrap from their lunch specials. Delicious and prepared fresh, thick slices of juicy gyro meat with lettuce and onions and a tasty sauce on a warm, fluffy pita, and I love the spicy red sauce they give you with it. Honestly the best gyro you can get in the area for the price. I definitely need to come back and try their shawarma, kefta,...
