Wheaton has needed a place like this for a very long time! I think you will see that it is a rarity for our area. Tonight, I had a truly wonderful meal here. My only regret is that I was pressed for time and couldn't stay longer to really savor and enjoy this place.
The atmosphere is lovely. Stylish, clean, well-lit, and well-decorated. A mixture of quiet dining areas, communal teppanyaki tables, and a fun sports bar/sushi bar island that doesn't dominate the place. You could literally have groups, having birthday parties at the teppanyaki tables, folks watching a Commander's game around the bar, and couples having a quiet dinner...all at the same time. The layout of this place has been very well thought out.
The food is equally excellent. The menu is huge and impressive. The quality and preparation of the cuisine is wonderful. I ordered a $12 chicken pad Thai combo that included a nice Japanese side salad and a mushroom broth soup. The salad was fresh with a gingery, creamy dressing. The mushroom soup was elegantly simple. The chicken pad Thai was incredible. As I ate it, I could see the bits of fresh ingredients that went into it. Everything was perfectly seasoned. Oh, yeah...I made the mistake of also ordering the Sake Wings. Why was it a mistake? Because the portions here are GENEROUS! By the time I'd had the soup, the salad, and about half of the pad Thai, I was nearly full. I was curious about the $5.00 wings, so I ordered them. They brought five nicely-sized wing sections...perfectly cooked...coated with a delicious, sticky glaze...and they were smoking hot! I ended up getting a doggy box for half the pad Thai and two of the wings. I also ordered a $2.19 pot of green tea. Along with a 20% tip, the bill was only $24.18. (Truthfully, I would have been totally happy without the wings or tea. I could have easily gotten out of there for $15, including the tip.)
The service was excellent!
The manager and staff have told me that the liquor license will be approved in a short while. They mentioned that they plan to sell $4.00 margaritas. NICE! This will be a GREAT happy hour spot and a good place to watch sports. (I will be there with a beer and an order of Sake Wings!) When this happens, there will finally be a really nice bar in the neighborhood. (No offense to the other places, but most are kind of dark, dive-like, and noisy.) At present, there really isn't a place where you can order a drink, some bar sides (or sushi), and watch sports.
BTW: That section of Wheaton Westfield's mall is turning into a truly nice, little restaurant niche. The seafood restaurant and the Korean BBQ are right there around the parking areas. The multiplex theatre is right next door. I wouldn't be surprised if more food places opened up. (Honestly, they need an ice cream/yogurt/Italian ice shop...which would really compliment the place.)
UPDATE (9/4/24): Been back three times. More of the same. Great meals at great prices. One note about one entree I had: the Chicken Teriyaki. Another well-prepared dish. Just one thing to note about it. It is very non-traditional chicken teriyaki. The more traditional version uses dark meat with the skin-on and is glazed/coated/soaked in teriyaki sauce. This one is a bit more sophisticated. A beautifully grilled, split chicken breast that had no glaze or marinade, but instead a nice teriyaki sauce on the side. It was really good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I'm used to something different. Still, very...

The highlight of our visit was the hibachi grill experience. Our chef was not only skilled in cooking the most delicious steak and seafood right in front of us but also entertained us with impressive culinary tricks and humor. It was truly a delight to watch and added to the enjoyment of our meal.
Speaking of the food, every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The sushi was top-notch, and the sashimi melted in our mouths. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the seafood was incredibly fresh. The portions were generous, ensuring we left satisfied.

Read moreUpdate: Trying discredit my reviews is crazy. Please show me on door dash where is states that shrimp is included in the meal. I uploaded pictures to show it states nothing about shrimp. If you actually read my reviews in the past, you would see that I said I’ve had issues with previous orders! You all have forgotten my yum yum sauce other times I order, and have given me the wrong appetizers in the past. Door dash did not issue a refund to my card. Instead of taking accountability for your mistakes, you are placing the blame on me. DO BETTER
I ordered via DoorDash a steak hibachi dinner meal. When my food arrived, there was shrimp mixed in with my hibachi steak. There was no description that shrimp would be sent with a meal. I was furious because I am seriously allergic to shrimp. DoorDash was not able to give me a refund. I spoke with the manager of this restaurant and he told me you would contact DoorDash to give me a refund. He never called in. This could’ve ended up deadly if I didn’t pay attention to my food. The owner simply said he’ll give me a refund, but to never come back to their establishment. The crazy thing is I never even got a refund. I’ve had minor issues with ordering from this restaurant, like missing sauces and missing appetizers, but never to the extent where I could have a deadly allergic reaction....
