El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in White Settlement

This review is for Chelly or “Shelly” claiming to be the owner that receives 25% of the business, need to listen up and read this review. I eat lunch at this restaurant twice a week & have done so for almost 5 years, infact you have a lunch plate named after the company I work for!

The Mexican food here is NOT authentic, never has been only the names of the entrees are authentic & it’s a fact. I dined at 11:27am literally 27 minutes after the restaurant opened & this is what I witnessed while trying to have lunch with my family….

The restaurant is filthy, under the table tops and the floors of the restaurant were filthy, sticky and stained. The chips served were cold, stale & obviously old. I let the server know & instead of trying to fix the situation she says “the chips are fresh” umm no, ma’am clearly they are not & is that why they are stacked up and under a heat lamp that’s not working (should have taken a photo of it, tons of baskets of chips sitting under the expo line & the heat lamp is literally not working at all and nobody working there cares) see now that’s what I call a “Care issue” folks. You have staff that’s mostly family that live off of that restaurant and what the parents built and NONE of you care & it shows 100%.

Ordered the queso and well it’s a small bowl of butter, water & velveta cheese, that’s it & it’s the worse queso I’ve ever seen or tasted and that’s saying something folks, no, veggies, peppers absolutely nothing!

Then we all ordered lunch, biggest mistake ever, we should have just left. I’m not paying for pre-cooked food, that’s why we chose to come to the restaurant so that we could enjoy and pay for fresh prepared food. I ordered the combo fajitas and well they were anything but that. Pre- packaged marinated fajita steak that was stringy and crumbling and taste like the plastic bag it came in, the chicken was grilled with zero spices straight up served plain cold chicken, now that’s disgusting folks! What this restaurant is doing is they are pre-cooking the proteins and holding them in a steam well and then placing them on a hot skillet. I called my server over to show her and she had absolutely nothing to say especially after I told her that the rice was cold, old and also probably days old rice they didn’t sell and just re-heated on a steam table & honestly she knew exactly what I was talking about and had nothing to say, 100% written all over her face.

I asked to speak to the manager finally and well the manager NEVER came by, the restaurant at lunch time was 70% empty. I found the manager at the front, thumbing away on her phone and after speaking to her this is what happened….

She decided not to speak to me in English so I decided to speak to her in Spanish and that’s when I was able to get her name folks! Yes, I’m fluent in Spanish, it’s part of my job. She told me her name was Chelly “Shelly” and that she was the owner now & told me after I alerted her of what was going on that I shouldn’t come her anymore and that she gets 25% of the business now. Okay Chelly or “Shelly” you know what you are correct, I won’t be back, ever. Also I will not be ordering ANY catering from your restaurant either like I did in the past ( I ordered 5 catering a year from this restaurant, all over $500 including gratuity) for my work family.

This restaurant was owned & ran by Chelly’s “Shelly’s” mother & I loved her so much, she was so nice & so respectful and the restaurant was always clean and the food was completely different then. The folks you have in the kitchen are cutting corners so bad they can’t even serve hot food, instead they choose to be Lazy & have no, respect for the food they prepare and how it’s severed. The sister of the mother still works there and it’s practically 90% family that runs it but folks the sister was there to witness all of this and so was our server who is also part of the family and has been there for years. we are not customers Chelly we are guests that you should treat as though we are guest in your home like your mother did!

Im only giving this two stars because the food is amazing and the prices are good if i go back thatll be the only reason well and its sadly part of the few places in whitesettlement to eat. Im not usually one to get mad, considering i work in the food industry and fast food at that so i understand frustration and being unhappy with whats going on and having to many customers. i went here and i walked in no one was seating so picked my table and sat someone quickly came over seemed like she was rushing there was only one other customer in the whole place, she asked me if i was ready i hadnt had a menu so i asked for one she brought then asked if i was ready again... i said no im sorry then said what would you like to drink i said water got that in like literally one minute then asked if i was ready again i said no im sorry again. she walked off in five minutes after i had decided and then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for her to come back this time. once she got there i asked if i could just have chicken and a plate of rice she then was very confused so told her i couldnt have tortilla and everything had it pretty much and i was apologetic for the request and i did feel bad because its odd and i shouldnt really be there since i couldnt eat tortilla bread she finally agreed to meet my wants after a confusing long talk and when i asked if they just had avacodo she was very rude and said no we dont we have guac. i said im sorry again then said no thank you thats all. as i was leaving there was a family sitting down i was watching them i guess you could said being nosey all the tables for some reason were either to small or dirty for the group the group as i was tryed to be nice and not mind and say sorry for the inconvience they caused the waiter and the cashier wernt having it from them either an older lady with a walker finally was trying to see if she could get in the only clean table which was a booth and looked at the waiter and said im sorry its just one of those days isnt it as if trying to relate to the waiter and make her feel better the waiter then looked her up and down and walked off without a word not said not mad no facial expression like she didnt care at all i understand if she is just having one of those days im sorry but she did not have to make everyone feel like crap with her so as i was leaving i went to pay the cashier tryed to over charger me it would of been 26.70 for one chicken and one rice side if ididnt say anything then when i did she rolled her eyes once i notice she rolled i eyes i gave her a look then after she slid me my reciept for the tip over the dirty cashier stand table she got really nice when she noticed i noticed what she tryed to do so i blantly wrote out in front of 0.00 on the tip slid it to her and looked at her she then said have a nice day love. well maybe she should of been nice before she treated me badly those other people out of her only two tables filled and tried to steal my money like i said if i went back its only for the food and location and it was not bad service due to me speaking english and them not no they spoke fluent english there just rude and...

This diner trip was probably one of the worst. Ordered a fajitas for 2(knew it was gonna be costly), a kids quesadilla, a steak quesadilla, bowl of queso, and a side or rice and beans. This ticket came to $80. First let me just say the hottest thing in the entire meal was the bowl of queso. Fajitas on a hot plate that you could hold(no sizzle) and the portion was not much bigger than a fajitas for one anywhere else. When we ordered the steak quesadilla we tried asking if it came with rice and beans. The server misunderstood us and we were charged over 5 dollars for a side of rice and a side of beans. The rest of the food was barely warm. When we tried to ask the server about the temp of the food and the size of the fajitas she said yes that is how they come and walked away not caring about anything else. When the bill was paid the manager argued with me about the quantity and quality of their food and told me that they have the best prices anywhere around. She told me that we should have come to get her if we had any problems with the food and the server said we never had any complaints. She told me that they usually include a tip for groups as big as ours because we didn't leave a tip at all, I asked her if they always included tips on a party of 4. She said "oh, well you didn't leave any tip." Refused to accept that the service was sub-par and the food was not worth the money paid. She told me that 8.50 for a steak quesadilla that had no sides was the best price you could find. I told her I could go a town over and get the same thing with sides for 10 or 11 bucks and she told me no, that's not going to happen. All in all we won't be wasting our money on this place ever again. We will gladly make the drive into Lake Worth to Arizola's Mexican Restaurant or Miranda's in Burleson for better quality at a better price from now on. The only reason we went here was because it was the only place close by that was open during the ice storm. During the next ice storm it would be worth while to go...
