Our stay was in the middle of September 2022. I had thought the establishment was fine. The establishment is a small appealing location near a breakfast restaurant, gas station and other convenience shopping. A good location while traveling.Their prices were reasonable, the cleaning service had left someone else’s clothing in the bathroom, but the room appeared otherwise fine. The service from the staff was polite and friendly. However. We flew down and stayed there because 78 yr old parents had a medical emergency and needed help. My father had fallen and sustained a serious head injury and was hospitalized.
Honestly, I think I would have left a five star review if the management hadn’t been so absolutely callous and uncaring in our emergency circumstances. Our father was discharge from the Texas hospital late in the afternoon to fly back to Illinois to continue his medical treatment the next afternoon. He could not walk, talk or fend for himself. Check out is at 11. My sister and I checked out of our room, but asked if we could get a late check out for my parents because we couldn’t leave for the airport until 1pm, and obviously we could just kill time at a restaurant or shopping with my father in the condition he was in. The manager said no. They don’t do late checkouts, but was willing to let us stay an additional 30 min for $45 or we could book the room for another night. So we PAID for the room for another night. We weren’t happy about it, but did not argue about it or make it an issue. At departure at 1pm sharp they watched us wheel him out in a wheel chair. Once landed my father was immediately hospitalized in a neuro -ICU with his severe head injury.
We realized afterward that we had lost his glasses in our urgency to get him care. We called the hotel and learned that they did have them. I explained our circumstances and asked if I could reimburse the hotel so they could mail them to us. The answer I got was “No, if you want them you need to come pick them up yourself.” No amount of pleading from me made any affect. It might have cost $10-15, that I would have paid to mail a pair of prescription glasses.
This simply turned a page for me. I can not believe that absolute disregard the management of this hotel has for their patrons.
We had been grateful the first day to the staff while there, I even said to one of the desk staff that if we had to be stranded in an emergency situation, I was glad we were there. I regret that statement. I did not know the manager could care less if you have an emergency or be absolutely vile about returning a necessary item. We were a family experiencing a medical crisis, and the manager, who could have extended small kindnesses chose instead to capitalize on our circumstances and remain rigid...
Read moreIf you are staying more than two nights RUN! I experienced Blatant discrimination during the few weeks I’ve been here. If you stay one or two days you probably won’t have an issue but dealing with the owner has been a nightmare. I selected this hotel utilizing my insurance with my hard earned money as a full-time nurse after needing to vacate my home with my children due to storm damage. You have to experience the treatment from the manager to understand my feelings at this time but decided to review this Solely to warn people that want to patronizeThis business for extended stay. Also the continental breakfast bag It’s just full of sugar snacks with a hard biscuit and uncooked bacon. Then when I tried to get the bags for my children he had the nerve to ask me each day that he serve me why I needed Them as if I needed to steal extra bags! This happened multiple times! Once I get tired of him bothering me I told him I will report to corporate and requested their information. About an hour later the manager came to my room door knocking hardly and when I answered had nasty gloves on that he was working in and said my children don’t need to eat on his comforter! I said excuse me! He proceeded to say that yesterday when housekeeping finally clean my room( which I thought they were supposed to be doing every day and haven’t) that it was too much sticky stuff on a it. I know how the comforters look and he definitely was upset from what I told him earlier about reporting hotel and was retaliating! I told him I’m not talking to him anymore about anything it’s ridiculous and I know he doesn’t treat everyone this way! Then he proceeded to say that I could find another Hotel that I needed to leave his property. He basically said what I told him that morning I would do if things did not get better but used his power to control the situation! I am so happy I am a nurse that has great insurance to afford to move for the remainder of my transition to a new Home. Thank God for corporate Office who is working with me as I report the manager and the Better Business Bureau To make sure my experience flags this hotel. I am adding my picture here in the room as a pack just so he can remember our...
Read moreSo this hotel seems to get good reviews….for some reason. I can only imagine it’s because people don’t have much expectations. I've giving three stars but that's BARELY three stars. Call it two 1/2...||The good – It was quiet…probably because there were so few guests (hmmmmmm). Things DID work, but that’s like saying my car started without any reference to how it runs. It was clean enough, the wife didn’t say “eu, gross” one time so they get that win.||The bad – ||Water pressure. Just adequate enough to shower. And of course, an epic deuce was too much for Mr. Toilet. Where’s that plunger? Oh yeah, right next to the toilet, for what seems to be an obvious reason.||Card keys stopped working after a few nights….six or seven swips and it finally opens up. If the zombies were chasing me I’d be done for.||Pool is great if you are looking to get hypothermia. What’s the point of having a pool if its so cold that no one uses it? I asked them about any kind of heating system and they said “no heat” as if they could care less if my kid’s toes gets frostbite. ||Breakfast? Again, just decent enough to where it’s consumable and you can choke it down, but far short of a good breakfast. Yeah, you don’t expect a five star breakfast at a cheap hotel, but I’ve been to plenty of best westerns where it’s better than this… ||And to top it off, the last night we were there, a nasty odor in the bathroom….we told them and they said it’s probably a pipe issue, with a shrug-of-the-shoulders attitude. Thank god it was our last night….I’m sure nothing would have been done about it.||And that’s the point – these people don’t care about a good experience; they just want to run an old hotel and patch up and/or duct tape the problems, rather than fix it up properly for a better guest experience. You might tell me “well, what do you expect?” And of course the owners would be saying the same thing.|So go here knowing it’s a place to stay, not ratty but straddles that...
