Rascals — Restaurant in Whitehall

I absolutely hate to do this because this is my absolute favorite cheesesteak spot and have always always recommended people to come here and check it out for themselves. However, the new staff in particular the woman on the grill- doesn’t cook the cheesesteaks like the owner(or manager) I don’t know his name. But for years I would come in and a gentleman would be behind the grill. Always made our experience with his friendliness and hospitality, even when I had the kids with me we always left with good food and a good experience. The new staff falls short of creating that atmosphere and the skills behind the grill just aren’t the same. You can tell there’s no effort and the hospitality is far from happy and helpful. I come here for the sausage sandwiches but it's a disgrace to native philly people to call your cheesesteaks a "philly".

First of all, any place that names it a "Philly" I promise is a fraud. I get that it's a marketing thing and it will bring customers but for heavens sake, it's frozen, processed, pre portioned steak that you would get from somewhere like resturant depot. I'll leave the negative stuff alone now and speak on the positive.

The sausage sandwiches are great. Also the way they put different flavors on their steaks is pretty cool. It's not a philadelphia cheesesteak but that don't mean it can't be good!

As someone who loves food I tend to try a lot of new locations; this place is my vice for a quick philly cheese on my way home from work. The staff there are welcoming and make you feel like you're an old friend of theirs, the wait time even during dinner rush hour is not bad, and the food is good.
