NOTE: This negative review is based on one specific experience I had recently. Not representative of the overall experience one might have any other time. I came in for Hibachi Dinner. It was a Wednesday. There was no wait at all. HOWEVER, as the waitress walked us through the restaurant, all the way to the back to our Hibachi bar, we noticed that the whole room was empty. As we passed the rest of the rooms, which did not look like reserved spaces, or private party celebrations, we counted at least 6-8 other "groups" having dinner at the other Hibachi tables. Why are we being seated in an empty room? Who knows. Why did they seat 2 more groups of people who came in only 5 minutes after us on the opposite station? Who knows. The whole dinner, and experience was awkward since our Hibachi chef was only working for us, so me and my date missed out on the whole "group Hibachi" experience because no one thought of consolidating the groups. I think it goes without saying that half of the experience of going to a Hibachi bar is to do it in a big station with other people around you and have that group setting experience. So we ate our dinner quietly and awkwardly. Why didn't they just make us "wait" until more people came in so we could have the full experience? Who knows. The food was fine. The waitress was fine, though a bit unassertive. If I'm offered, by management, to come back and give it a 2nd shot, I will. But it'll have to be a drastically different experience in order for me to change my rating.

I will never understand why a restaurant - or ANY business - hires and puts in place hostesses who are unfriendly and/or unprofessional. It makes zero sense to me. Samurai has been the go-to hibachi experience in Wichita Falls for nearly ever. They have amazing food. The rice especially stands out. That is the best rice I've ever had the opportunity to scarf down. Our waitress was ADORABLE! She was absolutely perfect. If I remembered her name, I would most definitely include it here. (She had dark hair and a really nice smile, if that helps (she's in the photo with the drum)) In all the years of dining at Samurai, I don't recall having a bad waitress. The cook was great too - funny and social. He acknowledged all of us and made us feel welcome. But the hostess. Why? Why would you have a rude hostess? I just don't get it. The face, hair, sloppy attire, and holier than thou attitude when you walk in the door is off-putting. I've been eating there longer than she's been alive, yet she has the audacity to treat me, my family, and other customers like they are intruding. I would consider putting someone who is warm, welcoming, and friendly in that position.

Flipping cold with the vents blowing right over the tables. While visiting my sister, she raved about this place. We accepted the offer to sit in the bar room due to her low blood sugar causing her unable to wait the long 45 minutes for a seat. She had to get her sweater to put over my jacket cuz it was so cold. I am not sure what soup we were served but it tasted like watered down chicken bullion with only two slices of mushrooms and a fewbits of green onions floating around. The red snapper we ordered was so dry we couldn't eat it it. We're not even sure if it was red snapper. I would loved to have used the chopsticks but how in the world would that work if we needed a knife to cut the fish and all we had was a fork? Best part of the meal were the sautéed mushrooms and zucchini but even those veggies became cold before we could eat them because the air was blowing so cold onto our table. I am not impressed and my sister couldn't believe how bad everything turned out. That really had to have been the worst fish I've ever eaten. I thought it tasted like a dry cooked chicken. I AM thankful that I didn't get sick from what I did eat though!

An incredible experience, the best food you've never had, and an ambience to match. The waiting seats could use cushions as you might often find yourself there attempting to get a table, they do a good job of staying packed. However once you are seated and begin to eat, you are given flavors that do not exist elsewhere. The signature sauce of this restaurant is what the other restaurants imitate, this is the original. They douse it into the rice, douse it into the meat, douse it into a side dish, and will douse it into your cup if you'd so please. The steak meat is extraordinary (cube teppanyaki medium rare), the sushi is well made and savory (Susan's roll), the rice is often ordered just by itself it is so good, the fish is great fried and buttery, you can add lobster if you're up to it, and it is all prepared fresh in front of you by someone who was taken the time to practice the craft. I can very much so taste presence of love in the food I eat, my other reviews will express disdain for lack of care to other places, however here, every chef I have gotten thus far to serve me has done a great job. I often visit family in Dallas and have other great hibachi restaurants to choose from, however when I sit and eat at the other restaurants, I get a feeling of mediocrity from them after being spoiled by samurai for so long. So out of the probably 20 now similar style restaurants I have experienced in Vegas Dallas Kentucky California etc... I feel I could say I might not find a better hibachi than here in our...

We've been there a few times now and can say some things have been consistent across the board.

The hibachi (teppan yaki) side is decent, but not impressive. The cook we had was clearly not that skilled, wasn't engaging, and seemed to have difficulty even understanding or answering basic questions and instructions. People's requests (such as no onion in the fried rice) were ignored and others were left outright without parts of their meal. Do NOT go here if you're short on time. They wait to begin food prep until the entire table is full. The food overall was pretty good.

The sushi side of things was better. I will say the sushi was quite tasty and the portions were sizable. However, they only had two people making sushi; both of whom were very slow. If you have time to spend waiting, it's worthwhile. Even the waitstaff tending to drinks or other food items were inattentive and difficult to catch, even for the check!

I look forward to seeing an improvement in the service and an overall more enjoyable experience. Update: More recently we had new waitstaff in the sushi side of the restaurant and we've seen a great improvement in service. When things get busy, the main sushi chefs still can get quite inundated, but overall the quality of the food is...
