Update 12/29/2018: I've been pleased with the food and service over past couple of months after giving it another try. However, I don't think I'll be going back. Today I had take out... Finished my curry and pad thai and fried rice then saw...ugh... A meal maggot. Gross!!!! Posting pictures now.
Every time I have the girl there waiting on me something goes wrong. Not going back after finding insects in my food I just fed to my girls and wife. Seriously gross. I realize some people in this world eat those bugs for protein... This is not that part of the world... It probably won't kill me, but I do have Crohn's disease and crazy things, like say whole insects in my food, might just cause problems... Maybe they added a little extra just for me since I complained before...too bad. Had high hopes this place was going to get better and be my go to every weekend... Guess not. Gross. ,......
Last week I had a sample of several dishes. All were tasty. Service was excellent! Today I had yellow curry vegetable and chicken soup. It came out differently this time.
I guess it's a hit or miss here. Food tasted good when I got it down to a size today will actually fit into my mouth and not flip off my spoon or girl..
Supposed to be jasmin rice, it's just normal bleached white steamed rice... A skinny slice of orange on top of cabbage veggie garnish on side looks pretty but not safe to eat.. Looks like old dry cabbage and carrots and sliced oranges made long ago and just sitting out.
This whole time sitting here not onece has server come over today...
Very disappointing considering how good it was just last weekend.
Good flavor.
Inconsistent service and portion...
Read moreTuptim Thai is a must try! Starting things off with an appetizer, the Thai Crispy Spring Rolls, here's the description from the menu: Thai Crispy Spring Rolls - Chicken, noodle, cabbage, carrot, celery, and onion in a shell, deep-fried until golden brown. Served with sweet & sour sauce. They were indeed golden, brown, delicious, and certainly fresh from the kitchen, as they were too hot to eat right away. The menu states a serving of two, but we got three in our order, Jennifer and I split the third, they were super tasty! For her entree', Jennifer went with Pad Thai Gang Dang - (here's the website menu description) Chicken and shrimp pad Thai in creamy red curry sauce with roasted peanuts over fresh cabbage and bean sprouts. Topped with a fried egg, shredded carrot, and cilantro with a fresh lime wedge on the side. I went with the Chicken Thunder - Chicken breast marinated in house seasoning with a touch of white rum, straw mushroom, baby corn, fresh ginger, and scallion. Both dishes were excellent, and sampling from each other's dish, we both commented, "I should have ordered yours!" When ordering, you get three heat options, mild, medium, and hot, we both went medium not quite knowing what level of heat to expect. I usually go mild when trying a place for the first time, but the medium was perfect, packing flavor followed by a bit of a kick in the finish, it was very nicely balanced heat, complimenting the tender chicken and vegetables. The curry sauce in Jennifer's dish was stellar, a sauce done so well you didn't really need the squeeze of citrus to brighten it up. The dish was Gang Dang delicious! Located at 2121 N Rock Rd #300, Wichita, KS 67206, I would describe Tuptim Thai as a restaurant with a relaxed and casual atmosphere with a touch of elegance. William, our server was all smiles and very professional. Other members of the staff were attentive as well, making for a great dining experience, in other words, the attention to detail was excellent, all the 'i's' were dotted and 't's' crossed. $pend Wisely My Friends... ~ Mike, Bachelor...
Read moreOrdered takeout for the following: pad thai noodles, sweet and spicy noodles, tom yum soup, and coconut cream sticky rice.
First of all, the waiter forgot to include jasmine rice for the tom yum soup, okay, forgivable. Mistakes happen and I didn't check beforehand. But, everything with regards to taste went downhill.
I couldn't even put a bite or two of both noodle dishes into my mouth. They both had a vinegary aftertaste and lacked flavor. It's just bland noodles steamed up with light soy sauce drizzled all over with fried tofu pieces sprinkled throughout. To sum up, it's like eating inauthentic Thai food (I come from SE Asia so I know how real Thai food tastes like!) In fact, I didn't even get much of the vegetables - it was just carb heavy from the noodles. They put one or two miniscule pieces of mushrooms and bok choy and call that a vegetable based noodles?! And they have the nerves to charge $15 for that dish? With all the ingredient and food prep, it isn't even worth that cost. Worst $50 overall spent for the order!
The only saving grace was the soup which was better and I was able to taste the sweet and spiciness from the herbs alongside the galangal root. The coconut sticky rice was also okay at best.
Overall, I'd recommend staying away from Tuptim Thai and to perhaps try a better Thai restaurant elsewhere in Wichita or even better yet, make it yourself at home. Your wallet and health will...
