I would give negative starts if possible. This place was probably the worst place I’ve ever been for food. First off the front lady who took our names was SO RUDE. She took our names then told us it would be around 10 min. Since there was no where to wait inside, we waited outside. After around 6-8 min tops, we came back inside and another couple said the lady said our name. We asked the front lady and she rudely said she called our name three times and no one came. We told he we were just outside since there was no room to wait inside. She loudly asked everyone in the front if they heard her say our name. Everyone looked shocked how rude it was, and we just repeatedly apologized saying we were just outside. She scoffed, rolled her eyes and then repeated the whole time she took us to our seats that everyone heard her say our name three times- we continued to apologize. And then she told our waitress the same thing and the waitress rolled her eyes and rudely said what do you want. And my bf and I just looked at each other shocked and politely said coffees please and she abruptly just left the table. After over an hour of waiting for our food (other tables seated after us got their food) and drinking 3 coffees each (given by another much kinder waitress), I finally was able to flag down our waitress and ask about our food. She rudely stated can’t you see we’re busy! it’ll come out. At this point we were about to leave, but my bf asked for water (still very politely) and she scoffed and rolled her eyes. Note, the place wasn’t even that busy, just looked like normal morning breakfast rush the place was very small and there were over 8 people working on the floor. When we finally received our food it tasted like it had been put in the microwave. The pancakes literally were so hard I had three bites and took so long to chew. The bacon tasted like it was cooked in the microwave and had no taste at all- fell apart it was so charred and chewy (not the good kind either). The eggs were disgusting (dry yet we’re wet?) and tasted dirty (and I grew up eating eggs off a farm)- not even drenched in salt, pepper or even syrup could fix it and our potatoes were VERY undercooked and tasted like they were heated up in a microwave. Together, my bf and I, barely had three bites of the whole meal. I flagged down our waitress and asked for the check and she asked if I needed a box, literally saying “you didn’t eat anything”. I told her no thank you politely but truly wanted to say I wouldn’t even feed this to a stray dog. We got our check and went to the cash register where the woman who sat us earlier rolled her eyes and checked us out. She looked like just an absolute MISERABLE person and still charged us over $30 for the food we didn’t even eat. We left our tip and couldn’t leave quicker. The whole experience literally gave me a migraine. I left hungry, upset, and truly wasted my time and money. I will literally NEVER return to this place. It was dirty and the workers all looked SO MISERABLE, the food was HORRIBLE, the service was nonexistent. If you’re considering going here and trying, I highly discourage. I honestly don’t know how this place is even be in business. So many...
Read moreThis place really deserves 0 stars in my book but I will give in to posting 1 star since my family said the pancakes weren't terrible. With the name alone, I should have known but they advertise to have decades as a restaurant so we thought we would get authentic down home cooking. I ordered an egg with bacon and hash browns. What I got was a reheated flavorless bowl of frozen cubed potatoes that was most likely purchased from the local Food Lion and a plate of bacon jerky. That's right I said bacon jerky. The bacon was extraordinarily large and stiff. When I attempted to bite it, the meat was resistant and had to be pulled with my teeth. You could see the meat stretching as it was being pulled. It could not be bent to break apart or crumbled. I refused to eat any of it. My husband told our male server the food was not good. He grabbed the bacon and potatoes and scurried into the kitchen leaving my egg behind to get ice cold. I got the attention of the female manager and explained what I had experienced. She got a bewildered look on her face and said 'the bacon is cooked first thing in the morning. I dont like my bacon burnt.' (it was 12 noon by the way. I was flabbergasted by her admission that they were serving reheated bacon. It seemed quite hopeless at this point so I gave her my eggs and told her I no longer wanted them. She did offer new eggs but I declined out of disgust. The server brought out a fresh bowl of reheated frozen flavorless cubed potatoes and bacon that was markedly different than what they tried to initially give me. This bacon was right off the grill. The difference in size and texture was amazing. It was actual bacon hot, freshly cooked and still sizzling - delicious. So I ate bacon and toast. They did not make any adjustments to the bill. For a family of four, we paid close to $50 for a cheaply made breakfast. They are cutting corners and giving the public store bought frozen potatoes. I felt like I had just experienced what institution food in the penal system must be like. The worst meal I had in the five days I was there. We should have gone to the Waffle House. I get that cutting fresh potatoes may be labor intensive but if you are going to do frozen, at least put some loving in them - toss them in a skillet with some onions, peppers and seasoning. What they served was an insult. I am still angry with myself for settling for any part of that meal and I definitely had no business agreeing...
Read moreServer was good and was friendly but food wasn't very good and had an issue when going to pay. My chipped beef gravy on biscuits was either microwaved or slightly warmed in a pot for a minute. Came out cold and had chunks in it, looked like uncooked flour or maybe powder from a packet gravy. Was also super watery even though the other two at the table were decent.
Bagel was a bit stale, apple juice tasted old as did the milk like they both sat out too long. Bacon and strawberry pancakes were good though.
Was going to leave 3 stars but then when we went to checkout they asked if we wanted to leave a tip, we said of course and since it was $83 we said just run the card for $100. Lady behind the counter pulled out a calculator and said we were 30 cents off. Asked what she meant, and she said we were 30 cents off of a 20% tip and asked if we wanted to add 30 cents to make it 20%. Who asks that when we never even mentioned an amount we were trying to tip and the food and service was mediocre (server just ran out two other chipped beef gravy orders to our table 30 seconds earlier and should've probably caught that one looked like it was filled with powdered sugar. I was a server for two years and know that you always look at your food you're running because you're the one who usually deals with any issues) and we're tipping 19.5% or whatever still. We didn't say we were trying to tip 20%, we just said "yeah, run the card for $100 even" on a $83 bill. You don't pull out a calculator and tell someone they're not giving you enough, especially when they're "off" on a 20% tip by .30 cents.
Give this place a pass if you're in town. We went to Colonial pancake house the day before and it was a lot better, Give that place...
