Pros: Costumer service, to an extent Cons: Terrible smell, mold, stained beds, stained bathroom, room service, costumer service...etc.
I came on here to write a review and was surprised to find a copy of the review I had planned on writing posted the day before by another family. My wife and I found this hotel on tripadvisor and other web sites as being highly rated as a great choice for a affordable and excellent place to stay...sadly you get what you pay for.
My wife and I spent the day at Busch Gardens until they closed at 10:00. We started heading to the hotel and received a call making sure we were planning on staying. We arrived to the hotel exhausted, sweaty, and ready to collapse. We were greeted by two gentlemen, an older guy and what appeared to be his younger son. His son greeted us and right away asked if we would like to upgrade to a deluxe suite for $20. more, we were surprised but blew it off and declined. We were given our key to room 171 a king bed room and headed over.
We arrived to our room. We walked in and were hit with a stench of smoke and musky. As we headed to the bathroom to wash up, we turned on the light to find mold on the ceiling, stains on the shower curtain, and dark stains in the bath tub. To tired to deal with the issues we decided to start bringing in our bags in and get ready to head for bed. As we pulled back the covers, we were surprised to find stains on the sheets. Not just small stains but large noticeable stains. We pulled back the sheets to the mattress to find more stains and things smeared on the mattress. My wife and I decided that we could not stay in this room or hotel in this condition. We decided to gather our things and ask for a refund and find a new hotel.
We went back to the office and spoke to the older gentlemen, he apologized and wanted to SELL us a deluxe room still at the $20 marked up price and admitted that his son asked to upgrade us out of fear about the room we given, was not up to standard. So they knew it was not a clean room and still put us in there???!!! We declined the upgrade especially at the increased price and he continued to push for a deluxe room. My wife and I now beyond the point of finding a hotel and staying awake decided to agree to the now FREE upgrade for the deluxe room. We arrived to a cleaner room, still plagued with the smell of smoke, although faint. The bathrooms and sheets appeared to be clean, regardless of the stains on the floor, and we decided to stay. He called to confirm everything was to our satisfaction.
We refused to eat the breakfast, swim in the pool, or do anything else other than sleep here which was hard with the standard stiff box bed for cheap hotels. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location, which is close to all that Williamsburg has to offer, no different from other hotels near by. The maid service seems to do a less than pleasing job at cleaning the room by replacing towels with dirty towels and just taking out the trash.
Overall I would NOT recommend this hotel. Even on a budget there are other hotels in the area I would stay at. The beds are not comfortable, the cleaning staff seem to miss a majority of the items that need to be addressed, even the updated rooms are still not up other hotels standards at a similar prices. I wished we had just left but being so late and being so tired we felt there was no other option. I write this review in hopes to warn others from staying here and finding themselves in a...
Read moreWe recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Days Inn Hotel, and I feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction regarding their poor facilities and subpar service. My encounter with numerous issues during my stay has left me with no option but to leave this negative review.
The bed in the room was incredibly uncomfortable, as if it were made entirely of rocks. Restful sleep was virtually impossible, and I woke up with body aches every morning.
We understand that rooms will not be immaculate that there will be a few things here and there, but there were various dead bugs around the room, hair in the bathroom. It is deeply distressing and unacceptable to discover such unclean conditions in any hotel, let alone one that claims to provide a comfortable and hygienic environment for its guests.
Furthermore, stained sheets, furniture, and towels only added to the overall feeling of uncleanliness and neglect. A hotel should prioritize providing guests with a comfortable sleeping space, and this fundamental aspect was alarmingly disregarded by Days Inn.
Another aspect that we found deeply disappointing was the false advertising of their breakfast. The hotel prominently features a decent breakfast spread in their promotional material, yet the reality was far from it. We were informed that the breakfast menu had changed when checking in but all that was offered was a few boxes of cereal and some juice – no waffle maker, no warm options, and certainly nothing to justify the expectations created by their misleading marketing. This false advertising reflects a lack of integrity and disrespect towards the guests who rely on such inclusions when planning their stay.
Then, after a long day at Busch Gardens, we come back to the room late at night. Upon entering our room, I was immediately disgusted to find an infestation of roaches.
When I voiced my concerns to the staff, albeit friendly, their lack of concern was evident. It was disheartening to see that my distressing experiences were met with indifference and minimal effort to rectify the situation. A lack of responsiveness from the staff only amplifies the overall disappointment and further erodes any remaining confidence in the hotel's ability to address guests' concerns in a satisfactory manner.
Considering the appalling conditions, false advertising, and unresponsive staff, I strongly advise against staying at Days Inn Hotel. The overall experience was beyond disappointing, and it is clear that the hotel fails to meet even the basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, and customer service. Save yourself from a similar disappointing experience, and seek...
Read moreOn 11-29-24 I reserved a room on Priceline at the Days Inn & Suites at 119 Bypass Rd., Williamsburg, VA. 23185. The clerk at check-in time [approximately 7:30pm], for a price of $56..97 [see attached receipt copy sent to Wyndham Hqtrs.] as I requested a ground floor [I am 70 with a bad knee] as there was ample available rooms [marked by open drapes with no lights on] on the ground floor. To my amazement, the clerk said 'there were no available ground floor rooms as 'maintenance' was being prepared on a number of 'leaking ceilings.'” As I went to check in to room #233, I noticed below several bottom floor rooms directly beneath me were available with open drapes and no occupants visible. I returned to question the desk clerk and he repeated that “those rooms were not available and 'maintenance' was being undergoing on them.” One of these rooms directly below me was #137 which was clearly unoccupied. The next morning upon going to my vehicle that rm. #137 had the drapes drawn and was clearly 'occupied'. Upon checking out I went by the front desk to demand why I wasn't rented a requested ground floor room which was clearly available. The clerk again claimed that #137 was not rented and I told him it clearly was by the closed drapes as they were open the night before. As the desk clerk continued to lie to me as I confronted his lie to which he 'commanded [screaming] at me to not argue with him!" as I told him I AM THE CUSTOMER, NOT YOU!! This exchange is on their lobby camera video run via the room behind the front desk. I know this hotel as I was an evening desk clerk from May 2022 to Nov. 2022 [when ownership changed.] I know the groundskeeper/room changer person as he was there during my previous employment. He claimed he knew of 'no maintenance on any ground floor rooms from leaking ceilings above']. In short, I feel I'm entitled to a free night at one of the Wyndham motels [not this one], in the near future. This front desk person is a disgrace to hospitality professionalism and has zero customer skills and should be terminated immediately. NO ONE SHOULD PAY MONEY TO BE...
