I'm a retired Navy vet and me my daughter and son were at a resort in Williamsburg for a week and decided to give this place a try because we love sushi. I ordered the platter in the pic but was only familiar with the California roll and the others were something new I wanted to try. I finished the California roll but the others were something my taste buds didn't agree with whatsoever. Also as you can see one is pilled with some type of tuna fish atop of it. Just didn't taste good. So I told the waitress that I didn't like either and before I could even say I'm willing to still pay same price and maybe just get two more California rolls and she can take the unwanted dish away, she instantly got extremely loud enough for the entire place to hear her and said ohhhhhh nooooo we can't do that maam, what if everyone didn't like their food! It's nothing wrong with our food!!! I 100% knew she was trying to put me on the spot because I was a beautiful brown Goddess and she expected that if she got loud, I'd become irate and ignorant! Her attitude was very nasty and she truly embarrassed me and my children. My daughter instantly stopped eating and was shocked and she's 17, and my son 10. Her energy was very unprofessional!!! So she stormed off to get the manager and the manager was actually very polite explaining that if I got 2 more California rolls, it's a price difference so I said np I'm retired navy ma'am, I wouldn't be here if I couldn't pay, it's just I didn't like the taste. So she says np we can make you two more California rolls and don't worry about the price difference. The waitress didn't bring it, it was brought out by someone else. So we finished our food and watched the waitress just pass us by several times until I said excuseee me, could we get our bill please and she goes "YEAH!!!"..... So when she brings the bill I lean in and ask her does she know what the highest vibration is? She looks completely lost! I said well it's love and authenticity, and if you're working somewhere where you're unable to flow in those simultaneously, you probably shouldn't work there!!!! So she makes the rudest face and smacks her lips and walks off! She def didn't like the color of my skin and thought it was okay to do me like that and the nerve to treat me like I didn't want to pay wowww! I just was hungry and wanted to enjoy what I eat lol paying wasnt the problem. I also told the manager on the way out that I spoke to the employee on love and authenticity and that spiritually you don't know who people are so just because you see physically don't treat people any ole type of way because I'm very much intune and flowing from my soul.
I def wanted to share my experience as a brown Goddess because she def did me like that only for being such and I wholeheartedly know no one else would have been given such a hassle. I also watched her rolling her eyes as she walked off to get beverages for another brown couple and their children. Unfortunately I don't know her name but the manager knows and it's crazy I was sooooo embarrassed that I was announcing I'm retired navy and I'm not without money and can pay while everyone stared at us! Just like in the medical field with HIPAA, it's common sense that what's happening at our table should only be at our table and you use your inside voice with all customers but she expected me to be rude and "ghetto" as we're stereotyped to be not knowing my vibration is truly of the cosmos.
The Universe is already dealing with her heart but again I wanted to share this horrific experience.....
Signed, Hungry Vet...
Read moreI wish I would have read the reviews first. I recently visited this location with my family (party of 4), attempting to try a new restaurant in the area. The appetizers were barely okay, and the fountain drinks tasted funny and we never got refills. Additionally, I didn’t enjoy my Hibachi Noodles dish. It had a strange aftertaste and I only took a few bites before deciding I couldn’t finish it. I let the waitress know - she looked at me strange and basically said since the food is fine and it’s not their fault that there’s nothing they could do. While she wasn’t rude, she didn’t try to help me in any way. Needless to say, I was disappointed. I felt bothered by it after leaving, so I called and spoke to the Owner/Manager…who basically doubled down on this idea. She basically said that because there was no hair or anything on the food, it’s not their fault and the food is fine - that just because I don’t like it doesn’t matter. I explained to her as calmly as I could that everyone has different tastes and not everyone is going to enjoy the dish. She responded by saying that if 10 people said they didn’t like it, then that’s different - but since it was only me, that’s on me and not their fault. I sincerely didn’t appreciate the owner/manager’s tone or her lack of customer service.
Needless to say, I did not feel valued as a customer and will absolutely never go back to this restaurant. There’s nothing about it that makes me want to go back. It was not a great experience. I looked at other low reviews and it just looks like it’s the customer’s fault when things go wrong - there’s no accountability. If quality assurance is important to you and you just want a positive experience, I’d reconsider coming to this restaurant. Response to Owner: Thanks for your response. My review throughly outlines what happened: I told them I didn’t like the noodles, they said the food was fine, that it wasn’t their fault and didn’t take the meal back nor offered me a replacement…and that was a huge problem for me. Both the waitress and the manager told me the same thing, so I’m sure that’s store policy. Unless I’m offered a refund or a replacement meal, we have nothing further to discuss. I’m disgusted by the customer service I received - that’s enough to make me...
Read moreThis place has really good food. Gyoza is crunchy. Miso soup is good, but it has very little tofu or kombu. Like 1-2 pieces of each per bowl. Which is fine for free, but I would not pay again for it on it's own. Home made salad dressing is amazing. Veggie tempura is good and is very crunchy. Shrimp tempura is also crunchy, but shrimp is not always cleaned fully. Sushi tastes fresh. Tunadon comes with a bed of sushi rice and is great to share. Red rose (tuna+avocado) is also really nice and fresh. Just tried the inari sushi roll (plain) and will definitely get it again. Drinks vary depending on who makes them, most of the time they are good. Staff is friendly. The only reasons for a lost star would be because sometimes when I go I end up with utensils& dishes that have leftover food on them. Another (temporary?) reason is because of the order later feature on their website. Don't use it or your food will be made the wrong day. I had mine made days ago when I originally put in the order even though I chose a new future date through the "schedule for later". When I went to pick it up it wasn't ready. I had to rewrite the order down because they threw out the ticket and had to wait. They told me when we realized what happened to not use this feature, I told them I did not know that I was not supposed to use it because it is offered on their website, & then they said they will take this feature down in the future. They were nice about it, but it is not an ideal situation to be in for both parties. Until then be careful. Bathrooms are clean. Tables have hand sanitizer which is really nice to see. Atmosphere is usually quiet and peaceful unless there is a hibachi show going on, but it isn't too bad. Just a bit loud at certain points. Overall I still love this place and highly recommend it. Best option (if you have time) is to...
