Pineapple Inn and Housing Center — Hotel in Williamsburg

I lived at the pineapple inn for about a year. In that year I saw many, many people come and go, as well as others who were there long before me and stayed long after. There are so many different folks from different walks of life who stay here. The staff does a great job of helping support the guests in their pursuit of finding resources that will get them to a better station in life - not to mention the food pantry on site, the full kitchens that are available, the clothing closet, and donations that come in from the community.

The rooms are not the greatest - this is not the Ritz Carlton. But there are beds that are of average comfort, there is standard (if not brand new/top of the line) furnishings, what you would expect from this sort of place. The other guests run the entire gamut from retired folks living on a fixed income who have made the pineapple their home, to those who are just down on their luck or between housing for a week or two, to more unsavory characters, but in my year there I never (or so seldomly I don’t remember it) felt unsafe or uncomfortable walking around or using the communal spaces. When there were issues, I generally noticed the staff dealing with them in a timely manner. I never experienced any issues with other guests personally, but being somewhere for a year you are generally aware of things when they happen. Most of the staff was generally friendly, and the front office specifically were great at helping to find the resources I needed.

If you need a place to land while you get back on your feet, there are much worse places to land. While I hope I am not in a situation to need a place like the Pineapple again, I am glad to know they exist and give other people like me an opportunity to...

I have been staying here at Pineapple Inn for Couple months and was surprised at the high quality of service received. I was able to meet with Amy, the owner, head of maintenance and most of the assistants. I have seen first hand with my own eyes the detail that goes into EVERYSINGLE room. All rooms now have New double pillow top matresses. New fresh linens regularly. They are HAVE a very large pool right in the middle of the complex away from traffic. The free WiFi is extremely fast no matter where you go on the property and its just down the road from Bush Gardens, Great Wolf Lodge and many other wonderful attractions Williamsburg has to offer. I have never seen a single bug ant or anything. It's not run by most people that run similar places like Pineapple Inn. If you have a concern they won't give you a hard time they fix it.||||Also the price is surprisingly cheap compare to many other places and for what you receive. I have friends who come for school and I can say every room I have been in SMELLS fresh and never like stale cigarettes. ||||Amy goes above and beyond to help others even on a full schedule she doesn't forget your request and always follows through. All in all its a pretty awesome place. in the summer it's even better lots of people from all over the world hanging out by the people getting to know each other. I'm assuming that the Astronomical Isabelle House is part of the Pineapple Inn, given their proximity, if not, I apologize. The pancake House is what this review is for. It probably should get two stars. The service was incredibly slow and without timely explanation. "Oh we get busy like this on the weekends and everything just slows down." Great, if you know that, why don't you warm patrons when they order? Why don't you tell them after ten minutes the situation? Why did you disappear for 45 minutes and not even bring drink refills? Why did it take another half hour after the entrees finally got there to get that side order of sausage? The food did taste good... But three meals with coffee and tea should not have cost $60! Especially not after having to wait over an hour to get these things!!! Yeah, now I'm really wishing I put two stars.
