2025 February, Eric's service and food were amazing!
2023 March, Dylan took care of our group of 14
2021 July, we loved the meatloaf, pasta with steak, and the chicken tenders appetizer
2018-08-12 had late lunch with family after church, food and service were good
2018-05-09 the garden salad, Bistro pasta and bison meatloaf were all amazing, the fresh fruit salad was not fresh, the fruit was moist (like it was sitting in a bowl for hours), the mixed/seasoned vegetables were not good at all. I arrived at/around 3:30pm, not many people in the parking lot at that time, asked the host (young gentleman) to sit at table with booth and chair, he let me pick the table where I wanted to sit, and the server (Robin) was nice.
2017-06-22 As we entered the door, we were greeted by a nice lady employee/server, she held the door for us, and a lady hostess told me that call-ahead seating should be at least 30 minutes prior to your arrival and available for groups of 7 or more. John K (married with children at home) was an excellent server from the start. John K brought us warm bread when requested, John K gave his opinion about a soup on the menu, said it was not good and then John K recommended the cream corn and crab chowder soup, and John K brought us a little sample, so we could try it and it tasted good! John K talked with the kids/children in our group (briefly), promised one of the boys (my nephew) some cookies and John K brought the cookies in a bag to carryout as we were leaving. John K also recommended the Thai shrimp appetizer, I tried it and it was so good that I had to ask for a 2nd serving since my wife and I shared the Tuscan grilled chicken-and-pasta; my brother, his wife and my brother's son tried the Thai shrimp appetizer and they all liked it just as much as my wife and I did. John K was patient while we waited for family to arrive and John K got our orders correct. I told John K that we were here a few days ago, and the Tuscan grilled chicken-and-pasta seemed to be steamy hot and more creamy (a few days ago), so John K brought us out some more Alfredo sauce (cream) and warm spinach or vegetable in 2 separate bowls. I highly recommend John K as your server when eating dinner at this restaurant.
2017-06-18 Father's day meal after church. Lady manager and waitresses took care of my family and I (18 people in our group)
10 months prior to the date above, My wife and I met here for lunch today. On the way, I called and spoke to a very nice lady in the office, she took my order, I asked questions about menu, she offered to ask some of her coworkers to answer my questions, but I continued to ask her questions about menu, and she looked for salad on the menu and told me what was on the salad, the salad that had fruit, pecans etc. She helped me to complete the order, I asked her to put the order in and told her that I will be eating at the bar. When I arrived, I told the bartender my name and asked her if my order was already put in, she said, yes. When my wife arrived, our food was served 2 or 3 minutes later. The lady bartender was nice and pleasant. My wife did not like the French onion soup compared to other places where we eat, and she could have had some mayonnaise with the half sandwich (turkey lunch meat). My salad was good, I enjoyed it. 5 stars for taking my order over the phone and having it ready after my wife arrived (on her lunch break).
5 months prior to the date above, I wrote this review: My wife and I usually meet here for lunch, eat at the bar, lady bartender is always nice. I don't really care for the management. There was a time when I could call ahead and order and eat my food at the bar, and then the manager told me that I cannot do that. I understand but don't like it, especially when I am a repeat customer. Manager does not even pay attention to things like that. Repeat customers are everything to businesses. I like the salad with grapes in it, but that is not available year-round, and the chicken tenders are good with...
Read moreMy husband and I arrived at Second Street Bistro around 11:16 on Sunday. They were not open yet, but opened at 11:30, so we didn’t mind the short wait. They opened the doors at 11:26-ish. We were the first ones through the door and seated first. We were greeted by Jamie H., who seemed friendly and offered to get us something to drink. We ordered right after she brought our water at around 11:30. I know this because my husband was keeping track of the football game which had the time flashing at the top of the game app. We ordered simple breakfast type foods…. Waffles, breakfast potatoes, sausage patties, and eggs. We sat and watched as waffles, potatoes, eggs etc..... passed us by, still NOT receiving our food. It started to become a joke with my husband and I if that was our food passing by, nope, wrong again! Our server Jamie kept looking at us but never approached us to see how we were doing. In fact, she didn’t come back to our table until we started eating. Our food was finally delivered to us by another server at 11:46. Now the food, let’s just say, wasn’t worth the wait. The eggs smelled funky but tasted okay; however, EVERYTHING needed salt and pepper. (WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE!?!) The sausage patties were so bland we dipped them in maple syrup. The waffles are NOT breakfast/brunch waffles. They were so over the top sugary and raw in the middle. They reminded me of an under baked sugar cookie. And when mine arrived at the table it was cold. My husband’s order was wrong. He ordered waffles for his main dish but received something else. Then when Jamie finally made her way back to us and we told her the mistakes she said, “I’ll have them take it off your bill.” Which they never did, or she never did. They did send out another waffle which was warm, but neither of us could eat it, again raw in the middle and overly sweet. Now normally I would overlook their bad service, and half hazard food, but this is the third bad experience at this Second Street restaurant. Three strikes you’re out! We will not be returning, as well as our family and friends with similar...
Read more3 1/2 stars. Wonderful, prompt service. Nice atmosphere. Some hits, but also misses with the food.
It was a busy, Saturday night but we got seated right away, Our server, ANGIE, was great. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure to check on us throughout the dinner.
We decided to go light. I ordered the Pig and Fig grilled flatbread, and a fresh field green salad. My husband decided on the Creamy Mediterranean Chicken Salad. We both liked our salads. The lettuces tasted fresh and the vegetables were crisp. The chicken salad was also yummy. My husband was impressed that it had nice chunks of chicken, and it wasn't smothered in mayonnaise. Their blue cheese dressing and sweet vidalia onion dressing were both awesome! They tasted homemade. Just wow.
My favorite part: For dessert, I ordered their chocolate cake. It was HUGE: rich, dark chocolate cake with chocolate icing and drizzled in chocolate sauce. I enjoyed it very much. If you love chocolate, it's a great choice! It wasn't overly sweet and had a nice bittersweet chocolate flavor to it. I ate one-third of it and took the rest home. I'll be able to eat this cake over several days. :)
Now the miss. My Pig and Fig grilled flatbread was ok. I also do not recommend it to anyone else. Here's why: The bacon was nice and crisp, and I liked how the sweet fig preserves balanced out the salty bacon. However, the blue cheese and Parmesan cheese tipped it to a dish I did not care for. After some reflection, I think putting together the blue cheese and the bacon on a grilled flatbread did not work. I love these two flavors on a wedge salad. The cold, crunchy iceberg lettuce tastes so good with the bacon and blue cheese dressing drizzled over it. But bacon and melted chunks of blue cheese on a warm, grilled flatbread? Too salty. Adding the sweet fig preserves did not offer the contrast I had hoped for. Instead, combining all of those flavors together made it taste confusing. It overwhelmed my tastebuds. Everything else was great. We'll be back so I can try a different dish. Hopefully, I'll find a main dish that...
