AWFUL EXPERIENCE. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. We ordered take-out from this business and the pick-up time given was 8:05-8:10. Upon arriving there were no parking spots available; no biggie I just parked to the side because I figured that our pick-up would not take too long. My significant other ran inside at 8:05 to pick-up our food. I was waiting outside with our two children for 40 minutes when my significant other FINALLY came back outside without our food to tell me that they informed him that it would take EVEN LONGER for them to prepare it. At this point I was extremely upset as 20 minutes over the given time is somewhat understandable but after 40 minutes it just comes down to poor management as they could have just given a later pick-up time. Upon entering the restaurant my significant other even asked the manager how much longer it would take and was told "5-10 minutes longer because they were running behind"...okay no worries but 40 minutes went by AFTER the extra "5-10 minutes" and our food was STILL not ready. When my significant other asked for a refund and kindly explained why he was met with no apology and was told to contact the service we ordered through to POSSIBLY receive a refund. Absolutely ridiculous. I do not recommend this...
Read moreLa Tolteca was recommended to my family while we were vacationing in Colonial Williamsburg as a nice place for Mexican fare. And it was pretty darn good! Nice, clean dining room, friendly staff that.know the menu and make great recommendations, quick and attentive service, and the food was outstanding. Generous portions, but not so huge you have to take home a doggie bag, and reasonably priced. They offer beer and margaritas in all the popular flavors, and have authentic Jarritos Mexican soda in a number of flavors as well. What caught my attention was the offering not of Mexican Coke. Why is that so special? It's made with real cane sugar as a sweetener, not high fructose corn syrup. Believe me, there is a remarkable difference in flavor that you can notice that makes this much better than the American counterpart. All around great meal with the family, and less than a mile from the Colonial Williamsburg historic area, so you can either walk or drive there. Parking is a bit limited, but ample for the number of tables in the dining room. Recommend La Tolteca highly for a highly tasty, reasonably priced, quality staffed...
Read moreRead moreThank you for inquiring more about my rating. Two reasons for the 3 stars: First, at my last visit a few days ago, the meal was 4/5, so I was pleased. Second, and more importantly, the visit before this (it's been quite a while, year), I took a bite from my meal and found a metal wire in the food. I brought this to the attention of the server, and a while later, a middle aged man with glasses (I assume a manager) brought out a wire mesh strainer and showed me a hole in it, which they assumed was the source. I really wasn't concerned about the source, I was more surprised how small of a matter this was to them. I recall they replaced my meal, but that was it; both my wife and I were concerned at that point about consuming any meal (that's why we waited over a year to come back). I was hoping the restaurant would do more for an issue of this magnitude. I didn't write a public review at the time because I understand sometimes accidents happen, but I also didn't want to leave your recent inquiry about my...
