Torres Mexican Steakhouse — Restaurant in Williamsburg

We've been coming to this restaurant since it open and have been fairly regularly and everything is usually fine nice staff good food not a horrible wait but today was not, we arrived at 12:22 and seated and everything seemed to be normal but when had been waiting for some time we started to notice other customers that arrived twenty and thirty minutes after we did were getting food and we had heard nothing about our food and when we asked the waiter and told him we had an event we needed to go get ready for soon and asked how much longer our food would be he told us they would offer a discount since we had wait so long.and it wouldn't be much longer that our food was "almost done" so we agreed to stay we ended up waiting another twenty minutes for some of our food and another seventeen for mine. Meaning we didn't receive our full tables food until 1:37pm The food we received was not all fresh they where still warm and it did taste good but it had definitely been settling for at least ten minutes and not to mention some of food look botched and rushed ("like they were in a hurry because they forgot") and when the waiter brought the check they did not discount our meal so my father asked to speak to the manager who then told us (please be considerate of us we are short staffed and as for the discount you were promised your waiter did not have authority to do that so we cannot give you a discount please understand) my father told them he did understand that but this was uncalled for and we would not be coming back again, I want to say we never once complained about the food not being fresh or how it wasn't even fixed properly we only wanted our discount we were promised since we ended up waiting over an hour for it I completely understand a group of six people would take a while but we've never waited at a restaurant anywhere for that long without someone at least letting us know about the wait, we ended up paying over 80 dollars for warm not hot food that looked questionable after waiting over an hour for it with an avoidant staff who barely talked to us after we started to question our waiter the point is someone needs to do something for the future you need better staff and probably a better manager we were manipulated into staying was brought food that had been sitting properly ten minutes or more and refused a discount that was offered us like my dad said we won't be returning to this...

We were just treated terribly bc they tried to serve my husband way undercooked steaks. My steak was cooked perfect medium rare. He ordered a more expensive steak, the ribeye and the first one came out extremely rare...still cold in the middle. They offer to re cook it and we were totally fine with that, he just wanted to be able to eat a steak bc it's very rare we get a chance on the road as truck drivers to stop in and eat anywhere different. He just wanted a steak worth what he paying for. The 2nd ribeye came out...it was a smaller steak, extremely thin. Like one you would see at a breakfast diner. And it was gooey red and mushy in the middle. We were done and just asked for them to take it off the ticket. The owner tried to refuse and make us pay for the steak that we were leaving on the table. It was discussing. The owners attitude was very degrading. We had been here once before and liked it but his time the whole thing was a nightmare. I had to litterally say take it off the ticket and we will pay for what we ate but will not pay for that Nast 30 dollar steak. It was a pathetic attempt to bully 2 people bc he was embarrassed in his own restraint bc he was wrong and the waitress was so sorry bc our steals were visually extremely rare. She was the only good thing about the resteraunt. Very very kind and seemed to be the only one working tables while the rest of the staff was trying to shut down sections 2 house before they close. We will never go back. That is litterally nothing my husband and I have ever said about a resteraunt. We left the waitress a very good tip bc she deserved it after having to deal with her own...

One of the things I check at all the restaurants that I eat at is the cleanliness of the establishment, I look at the bathrooms, I look under the tables, I read previous reviews to see if there are any issues, but, when you walk into a place and you see the certificate from the health department that's got a 100 written on it that says a lot. What a great start to an excellent meal. My server Diana, had chips and salsa(perfect salsa) on the table and was waiting for me to return from the men's room to take my drink order. She and I talked a bit and I decided on the Pollo Grande with shrimp added and the cheese sauce. I'm not a big vegetable person so the broccoli, and the squash, and the zucchini, and the carrots, kind of had me scared but I said let's go for it and the result was spectacular. There was more shrimp than chicken and the chicken was so good and flavorful it made the meal phenomenal. Chicken, shrimp, broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, and onions, all in a cheese sauce, cooked perfectly, laying on a bed of rice.... it was so good and there was so much of it that I had to push some away. The veggies were cooked perfectly and so flavorful, I loved them. Good service, excellent food, very clean well appointed establishment, staffed by the nicest people...
