Now this is a proper watering hole - a good ol pub where everyone knows everyone and if you are new and have never strolled through the doors - you won't leave without a few new friends! It is a quaint little English, Irish, Scottish - well eclectic pub that has a nice bar when you walk into your left always accompanied by a one, maybe two, friendly, experienced and awesome bartenders - you will find a great selection of beers on tap, or in a bottle and if hops isn't your thing they have a well stocked bar of all the libations you need to have a good time - and if thats still not your think then they do have wine and even mimosas! Drinks are always on daily specials and shots can go down far too easily when your having such a great time. to the right they have a nice raised and enclosed seating area to watch sports games, watch or play a round of darts, or you can sit back and realx with your friends or people watch - if you are especially lucky you might even be there for some entertainment by a local band!
They have billards in a seperate room in the back and a very nice outdoor patio to sit outside and smell the fresh air (or to smoke a cigarette) Dogs are allowed - if they are on a leash and not aggressive - I've seen children there - but I wouldn't say it is kid friendly - and perhaps you might even be lucky enough to accidentally sit next to a celebrity (which has happened to be on a few separate occasions) since Wilmington is always popping off with new on-screen hits! It is only 2 blocks away from the water front and around a host of different and amazing restaurants and happenings!
Even though I have moved away from Wilmington, everytime I go back home it is always still our local watering hole- so if you find yourself in the area and are a little parched or looking for a place to have a good time with friends then I do recommend Duck and Dive! And thank you to all of the staff that always welcomes me back with open arms - to that I raise a glass of gratitude - Cheers, friends! I'll be seeing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBEWARE EMPLOYEES ARE THIEVES!!!! My fiance and I found a very expensive ring in the street not far from the bar. We told the bouncer Adam we wanted to do the right thing and try to return it to its owner. We decided to let them hold it behind the bar while we shot pool in hopes someone may come to claim it before we left that night. Upon leaving, we approached the brown hair bartender and told her we were going to give her a business card in case the owner ever showed up and to give us the ring we found as we were leaving. THEY REFUSED!!! WE DIDN'T FIND IT IN THEIR BAR, AND IT WASN'T THEIRS TO CLAIM!!! To not make a scheme, we decided to advise we would allow 10 days for the owner to claim and we wanted proof that someone claimed it. I should have called the police on them right then and there. You know what they say, no good deed goes unpunished! Adam gave us a fake phone number, we tried several times to reach out by calling the bar, and social media,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDick and Dive has consistently remained my favorite spot downtown to relax and grab a couple of drinks. The atmosphere and culture here is inviting and laid back. A lot of guys like to play Chess here and they keep a few boards for people to play on. There's also darts and a couple of pool tables in the back, as well as an outdoor back porch (if you need to vape or smoke) and daily drink specials. There's almost always someone friendly here to chat with, and the bartenders are attentive. You can't go wrong...
