Islands Fresh Mex Grill — Restaurant in Wilmington

Sharing for my friend who has been treated so rudely by the manager of their downtown location:

I often enjoy eating affordable tacos at Island’s but tonight at this location this guy “Kenny” (manager) was so rude that I am not sure I am coming back to this location. I only asked him if he could give me a few more chips and he answered that if I wanted more that I needed to pay more. So, I mentioned that usually I get a little bit more, to which he answered “you are welcome to leave”. And then he said he was keeping the food until we all paid ( we were 6 in total and I ordered first). I respectfully asked him if he was the owner and he said the manager. I told him that his demeanor was not very nice. He repeated that I was welcome to leave. I told him , that customers pay for his salary, that he may want to be treating us nicely. It’s sad that some people don’t have good manners or customer...

Was staying here for work. Ordered online and husband walked to retrieve order. I ordered a BBQ burrito with side of BBQ sauce and chips and salsa. Daughter got chicken quesadilla kids meal. Husband got 4 taco dinner deal. Daughters quesadilla was okay but chicken was dry and she'll tasted like cardboard. My meal tasted bland, no salt at all. All meat on one side and lettace and cheese on other. Cheese was not melted and lettace was old. Also BBQ sauce tasted moldy. Salsa was bland I guess no one believes in salt. Husband didn't like the tacos and that is a big deal because he loves authentic Mexican food. Ordered queso and never got it. It was definitely a horrible experience. I'm glad other people had good experiences but to spend almost $40 on food and be met with this it's a...

Its a great little place,the kids behind the counter were very nice and accommodating, I was there just as the lunch rush was beginning.... Lots of good looking toppings, I ordered the steak burrito, I watched them make the one for the customer before me, it was definitely FULL! So I told them what I desired on it and he topped it off with a little extra meat and cheese...YUMMMMM! and here's the BUT, I got it home and sat down to enjoy my meal and it was......good...I'm sorry, just good, it all just missed the bullseye on flavor, and the meat was a little on the dry side..... It really wasn't bad......but I guess I was hoping it tasted as great as it looked! I will definitely go again, ill just choose something...
