Paddy’s Hollow has one of the Best French Onion soups in the area. I will focus on the French Onion Soup and the Jalapeno poppers in this review. They also have great burgers, salads and French Dips. The menu has a great variety of foods. I have eaten at Paddy’s for years and have NEVER had anything less than well cooked, served and prepared food. The French Onion soup is made with Guinness which adds a great depth of flavor. The presentation is beautiful with the cheese melting down the side of the bowl. The amount of cheese and bread are really appropriate and balances well. If I could change one thing, I would add more bread into the soup like Brasserie Du Soleil does. (That’s another review). I prefer the dark and flavorful stock that defines this soup. The onions except for one stray piece were perfectly cooked, being neither over or under cooked. The one stray piece appears to just have been an onion that was only partially cooked. The Jalapeno poppers were perfectly fried and served at the correct temperate. Very hot, but not to a ridiculous level.
I do want to mention that during the last two visits my wife and I have had. We experienced the most personable and wonderful server we have ever experienced there in years. The servers are always friendly and efficient however, Jay H. stands apart at a whole new level. While still tending bar, he also acts as a server. He amazingly can balance both jobs, and his smile, easy going attitude and personality never falter or suffer given the rapid pace and expectations of his multiple...
Read moreMy fiance and I came here for a late lunch. We are locals but have never tried it out before. We were seated at a booth and waited over 10 minutes in an empty restaurant and were never greeted by a server. We almost left but figured since it was our first time here, we would walk up and sit at the bar. There was one table in the entire place beside us, and the host, another guy we couldn't tell if he was a server, kitchen staff, or his job title, made eye contact numerous times while we waited. When we sat at the bar, we brought our menus with us and were greeted by Karina R, and she seemed unpleasant like she couldn't care less and did not want to be there. She never tried to ask if we wanted another drink, and she brought our appetizers out and seconds later our entires, not spacing out any time between. We watched the staff pour beer and take it into the back, which was confusing. Also, the food was terrible. We ordered the French onion soup, crab dip, kielbasa sub, and corned beef brisket sandwich. The soup had barely any onions in it, all breading. The crab dip was the most minor portion we've ever seen ordering out at a restaurant, and the sandwiches were both very bready and mostly flavorless. Overall service sucked, and so did the food. The only good thing about the place was the interior decor. We will not be returning or recommending this...
Read moreFirst walking into the place puts a person at ease. It is dim, but not too dark. The scent of food wafts in the air, but not too pungent. There is also an underlying soft scent of air freshener. The staff all seem friendly, however, mine felt that doing things for the bar were more important for an actual customer. Considering there was hardly any customers, I think my waitress ignoring me for the better part of my stay or running off before I could say anything was in poor taste. She never checked on me or kept an eye on me when I tried to call her, so I would have to catch other waitresses. The Crab bisque I ordered was very crunchy and bitter. It wasn't terrible, but it is an acquired taste. The fish and chips is what I ordered. Decent fries, the most fabulous fish! The Tartar sauce was very bland. The cocktail sauce was alright. The waitress neglected to bring the cole slaw and quite frankly, I was in no mood to chase her down for it. If I go again, I'll be sure not to get the same waitress. So overall, go if you want to chance it. The service and the food seem to be like...
