Since moving to Wilson about 18 months ago, I have been to this Chili's about six times. And I've been to many Chili's all over the country. The Chili's in Wilson is consistently the WORST Chili's ever.
I genuinely like the Chili's menu, but it lacks complete and accurate descriptions for many of the food items, which may account for some of the issues we had today. But in Wilson, the food is never as good as it looks in the menu or as good as it is at other Chili's. Granted, the town of Wilson seems challenged when it comes to the pool of employees available in the service industry, so few restaurants here (especially the chains) have decent service, but today was pathetic. We had four in our group, two adults and two teens. At first, the waitress was friendly. She took our orders without writing anything down. We didn't all order entrees, but it should have been clear (or the waitress should have asked) what should have been served as an entree in terms of timing.
First issue: waitress brought out chili (entree for one of the teens) by itself immediately. Second issue: It was awful. It had hard chunks in it (burnt meat?)
Third Issue: Waitress brought out nachos (other teen entree) with meat on it. The menu says nothing about it coming with meat. This turns out to have been an order error on her part.
Fourth Issue: Steak and asparagus was served with mashed potatoes after telling the waitress "no mashed potatos".
Fifth issue: Waitress takes nachos and steak plate back to kitchen and returns with broccoli (driest steamed broccoli EVER!) in place of potatos on steak plate. Then she returns with a chicken quesadilla in place of the nachos!!! I'm not joking!!! I then get the menu out and POINT to what we ordered. She finally returns with nachos with cheese and beans (as ordered). By this time, NONE of our meals were served at the same time, which really ruins the experience of eating TOGETHER!
Sixth issue: Waitress didn't refill our drinks. I had to go to the bar to get a coke refill. And the bartender came over to fill our waters later. And the place wasn't busy. There were maybe people at 6 to 8 tables.
Seventh issue: It took FOREVER to pay! They kept having some issue with the kiosk. I had to suggest that they just bring me another kiosk.
Eighth issue: The waitress was neither friendly nor attentive. Sure, we were getting frustrated with our order, but we weren't being rude about it. We're nice people, and we know Chili's is not a five-star restaurant. But, according to this waitress' attitude, it's as if we shouldn't have expected good food, proper orders, or decent service.
Ninth issue: The bill was wrong and contained charges for food / services we didn't order.
In the end, the manager comped two of the meals (something we did not ask for), but that matters little to me.
This place needs an overhaul. New management? New servers? New ownership? Whoever owns it needs to take a hard look at what they are selling because it certainly is not a pleasant...
Read moreChili's ended up being my alternative for a late night grab since I couldn't get to Moe's before they closed. The restaurant wasn't packed but had a small crowd. The lay out was unique compared to other Chili's I'd dined in. It was more of a large open room with the seating arranged in such a manner that the bar was visible from any seat. Every table could be seen from any seat as well rather than having a layout where each area was sectioned off separately. I was a little thrown off by this as it was not what I was accustomed to, yet it grew on me eventually. The food we ordered was the chicken fajitas. The appetizer was chips and salsa with guacamole dip. Everything was delicious and we couldn't eat all of it. The food had come to the table sizzling hot and fresh. Our server was a real sweetheart who went above and beyond. She embodied good ol' southern hospitality. Payment was quick and easy via electronic register at the table. With the little payment tablet you could go ahead and add your tip. It was such a pleasant experience, which left both my sister and I impressed. The only minor issue I had was it was freezing in there and a little hard to get comfortable. I'd definitely recommend this eat in for the great service and food. I didn't get my Moe's but this was an excellent...
Read moreFirst off, it was not busy at all. I had to ask if they were closed when I got to the door. Guy Elliot at the door was super attentative and friendly. That's where the good experience stopped. I will not mention the waitresses name just because I want to try and give her the benefit of the doubt, BUT... My wife asked for French fries with her order and asked if they could put Cajun seasoning on them. The waitress said sure. My order I asked for no fries. I ordered a soup, and specifically asked her to tell the back to make sure it was extra hot. My burger I asked for just meat and cheese, plain, nothing else. I stated no mayo, no lettuce or tomato. My wife's fries came out as Texas fries (more money), my burger came out with bacon, and had everything on it. Also, there were fries on my plate. We saw the waitress once when she asked if I wanted another beer, and then to give us our check.... not I asked for it, but she rang us out with out asking about desert. My wife ordered the Chocolate molten lava cake. 21 mins later we didn't have it. We got the manager over who was nice, but when it came out, it was the mini version, not the large one like they always used to serve.. REALLY bad experience. Only saving grace and reason for the one star...
