Jack's Restaurant — Restaurant in Wilson

Everything sucked from the time we were seated. This was our first time dining here, so we had questions about menu items. The waitress seemed annoyed when answering. They do not have a children's menu, and the waitress said they could make the kids noodles with butter and parmesan. The noodles came straight out of the boiling water with no seasonings whatsoever. The kids did not want it, so a member of my party stopped a hostess and told her the problem. The hostess replied we needed to tell our waitress, but she took the bowl to the kitchen anyway. During that time another member of my party had gone to the car to get her jacket because it was cold inside. On her way back in, she overheard the hostess telling someone that "all they had to do was add salt and pepper to it." Seriously?! We had a reservation at 8 pm, and our food was taking forever to come out. The restaurant was damn near empty because they closed at 9. The waitress would disappear and take forever to return to check on the table. We asked for a manager and explained to him what was going on. He gave a weak explanation as to why our food was taking so long and then rushed off. A few minutes later our food was brought out and it was luke warm. I didn't even recognize the sweet potato mash on my plate it was so dark. Another member of my party had burnt roasted potatoes. The only thing that was decent was the salmon and burgers. Your first impression could be your last, and this was definitely their last. We will not be patronizing this...

We had the chance to enjoy an excellent meal at Jack's recently.

Atmosphere: The restaurant is nicely decorated and very spacious. The overall decor isn't super luxurious like some of the higher end steak houses, but what Jack's has works for this particular restaurant.

Service: Upon arrival, we received a warm greeting from the hostess and were shown to our table. From there on; our server Savannah arrived and took our drink orders and explained the daily specials. We have to say that she was extremely professional and attentive and made our meal much more enjoyable.

Food: We had a 10 oz filet mignon with asparagus and mashed potato, and a 14 oz ribeye with asparagus and a potato cake as the sides. Both steaks were cooked very well and had great seasoning. The potato cake stood out as one of the best I've ever had. However, I must say that the biggest standout dish was cranberry butter and bread. This was my first time trying cranberry butter, and I have to say that it's a must try.

Overall: I've been a fan of chef Duji since his days back at Pup's, so I have to say that he remains one of the best chefs in our area. With that being said, my meal at Jack's was beyond what I expected and I can't wait to return next week. They currently have a BOGO free special for entrees on Wednesdays (as of 06/04/2025), so that's definitely something you'd want to take advantage of. I plan to return soon and will remember to take some...

To get complaints from me isn't an easy feat. Our service started out great and once we ordered thing went sideways. After a 35 minute wait we were told that they were out of the soup that we ordered and if we like we can have a different soup which I truly didn't enjoy. My ribeye and my wife's filet mignon was made exactly how we wanted them (medium rare), the mahi mahi my dad ordered was very good. The beef stroganoff my mother ordered was barely edible, it was so salty if she didn't have high blood pressure before dinner she does now. My wife knew what she wanted for dessert (her reason for picking this restaurant for dinner in the first place) she has wanted creme brulee for some time and this was her opportunity. We ordered and about 10 minutes later the server comes over to let us know they were out of creme brulee. At that point just give us the bill so we can leave. While waiting for the bil the manager came over unprompted and apologized for the long wait time and for being out of the things we ordered. She didn't offer to give a discount or take the appetizer or gross soup off our bill which is fine, we weren't expecting that but sense she came over... We got the bill, paid leaving a better tip than I wanted to leave (15% about $33.00) because my wife is a saint. Our total time at Jacks was 2 and a half hours. Most of that time was waiting for one...
