Finally! There is an Italian restaurant on the drive!
Overall * Food * Service ** Ambiance * Noise * Price **
I recently dined at Salvo, a newly opened Italian restaurant on Wilton Drive, and was immediately impressed by the decor. The entrance through the patio leads to a beautifully designed interior with large marble panels and expansive glass panes, creating a spacious and light atmosphere. The acoustical tiles effectively control noise, enhancing the dining experience.
Upon arrival, we were graciously greeted by the host who promptly seated us. The waiter quickly offered water and served bread with a delicious dip. Although our wine order was initially misunderstood, the staff generously corrected it by gifting us the two glasses previously poured.
The menu, though limited, caters to discerning palates with selections from antipasti, insalate, pesce, pollo, carne and dolci. The food was tasty and well-presented. The calamari was well-seasoned and ample for sharing. My salmon dish was perfectly cooked and accompanied by delicious asparagus, though the portion could have been slightly larger. The tiramisu was creative, light, and flavorful, perfect for sharing.
Despite some early negative reviews when the restaurant first opened, my experience, 23 days post-opening, was positive. The staff was professional, and the dining experience was closer to fine dining than any other restaurant on Wilton Drive. Salvo is a must-visit and deserves recognition among the top restaurants on the drive, such as Palmyr, Ethos, and Tulios.
Parking: Note that parking in front of the building fills up quickly, but there is additional parking at the rear, accessible via...
Read moreI visited this restaurant a few nights ago with a friend who had been there several times and recommended it. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were very sweet and attentive.
I decided to order the chicken parmigiana, but since I usually prefer Alfredo sauce with my pasta instead of red sauce, I politely asked the bartender if it was possible to substitute. He was new but very kind, and said he thought it would be okay.
A minute later, the owner, Salvo, approached me with a very rude attitude. Instead of simply saying they don’t offer Alfredo sauce, he rolled his eyes and told me, “Don’t come here and infect my food with that question!” He made me feel as though I was stupid for asking, and continued with sarcastic remarks about who would ever request Alfredo sauce with chicken parmigiana. I’ve been to many Italian restaurants, and while not all will accommodate, many have and when they can’t, they simply say no politely. That’s all I expected.
The way he spoke to me was extremely disrespectful and unnecessary. Later, he even came back and told my friend that his chef was “upset” that I had dared to ask for a modification. That made me feel even more uncomfortable.
When I choose to dine out and spend money, I expect to enjoy a pleasant experience, not to feel insulted or humiliated. Kindness is important, and there are always better ways to decline a request. Because of this experience, I will absolutely never return to this restaurant.
I do want to mention that the new bartender was wonderful ,he even tried to calm the owner down and reassured me it was not a big deal. I truly appreciated his kindness. Unfortunately, the owner’s behavior ruined the...
Read moreMy first experience with Salvo was not that good. Two weeks ago I made a reservation for 09/17/25 for 3 people. A week after I called Salvos to add a 4th person to the reservation. I was told the 4th person was added. On the day of the reservation I called the restaurant to reconfirm the reservation I asked if it had been updated to 4 people I was told no. I was then told they would change it. When we arrived our table was set for three people not 4. Frustrating but there was room for a 4th. We ordered wine and drinks and they were promptly served. Orders were placed Three of us ordered the beet salad as an appetizer. Although it was fresh it was very bland. We all had to add a lot of salt to give it a better flavor. Two of us ordered Tagliatelle bolognese as our entrée and it was very good. My husband ordered the special of the day which was pork chop milanese. Even though it looked wonderful they might as well have served shoe leather. It was dry and hard to chew. We are not customers that complain often about food or service but we decided to speak to the manager. His solution was to bring a lemon vinaigrette to put on top of the pork chop. The only thing that changed was that the shoe leather pork chop had a more lemon taste. All of us tried a piece just to be sure it was bad. The manger didn't offer to take the charge off the check. I had also ordered a 2nd negroni but it was never delivered. Overall I would rate our experience a zero. We will not be going back. Also, the waiter handed me the tablet to pay the bill and HE chose his tip amount. I changed to from 22 % to 15% HOW DARE HE. There are many other dining options in Wilton Manors and...
