This was a disaster of a visit. We showed up with 6 of us past lunch time on a Saturday. We were basically seated right away. A couple of tables were open inside but especially outside. We were greeted either by the manager or waitress and asked what we’d like to drink. She also spit out the specials on the soups so fast that we had no idea what was said other than a chilled watermelon something and a vegetable soup something. She leaves. Someone else brought us our drinks and then we never saw her again. Another guy showed up and took our order. We didn’t wait long. Food was good but he or the kitchen forgot my son’s pizza. By the time we saw him again, everyone was done eating, our glasses were empty, and my son was starving. I saw the waiter inside serving and I made eye contact with him. We were ignored by another waitress who gave water and tea to the other table outside and ignored us. Nice. We see the waiter again and he knew we were irritated. He never once came back out to tell us sorry and that the pizza was in the oven. Just gone. He showed back up finally. He asked if he can pack a dessert for us. No thanks. We’re all annoyed at this point. Are glasses are ignored again so I asked for tea. He then gives us watered down tea and water. My brother had to ask for ice. He brings us a cup of ice. We split it. He walks away and we’re still left with dirty dishes all over the table. We also noticed the manager/waitress who came to our table first noticed us and walked past us. No refill of glasses but she went to another table to fill their glasses. I mean... really. My mom becomes irritated and says she’s going to talk to the manager because this is ridiculous. Furthermore, the price for a kid’s pizza is $9. Just no. It’s not worth that. I’m glad they took off the pizza because it came out so late but the service overall was terrible for a day that wasn’t as busy as I’ve seen it...
Read moreThis was our first time trying this spot. It was just ok. I like to drink iced tea which is usually a staple in Texas. The server mentioned they only have hibiscus tea. I tried it, but it was too floral for me. I switched to beer. They have a really good selection of local beers. I tried a Roughhouse Brewing beer from San Marcos. Good stuff. We tried the soup of the day which was listed as tomato with goat cheese. It was not our favorite. We expected it to be like a bisque but it wasn't. We then tried the 3 salad plate which was pimento cheese, tuna salad, and chicken salad. The tuna salad was really good and the cheese was decent but then we found a long hair in the pimento cheese when we dipped a chip into it. I showed the waitress and she took the plate away and they brought a new plate, but no manager stopped by.. not a huge deal but it was kind of gross. I ordered the crab cake which had a southwestern feel to it. Inside it had corn and also tomatoes if I remember right. That would be ok except there was no mention of that on the menu, so I was expecting a regular crab cake. Again, wasn't my favorite but not terrible. I would have ordered different if I had known what was in the crab cake. My wife got the fried avocado tostada. It was decent except that the sweet potatoes were still fairly raw and inedible. We really wanted to like this place but it misses the mark. They also have turned the middle of the restaurant into a Togo staging station and desk for paperwork. It's off-putting considering how much work was put into making the building and space look nice and have a good ambience. They were also on a decent wait for tables in the air conditioning but are losing space for 12 people with...
Read moreUnfortunately this place fell very short of expectations! I had been looking forward to trying them for several years after I heard about how they showed up for their community following the devestating floods on Wimberly several years ago. I still believe they're amazing business owners, and good people - but they definitely did not have their A-team on staff today. We arrived right at opening at 11 am. We waited close to 20 minutes for one mimosa, and almost an hour for food. Our waiter was SERIOUSLY BAD. Had no clue about anything, acted like he couldn't care less about even doing a mediocre job. Could barely answer questions about anything. Disappeared constantly -they weren't even that busy, I saw other servers around but he was nowhere to be found most of the meal. We had to beg him to tell us the specials when he took our order (note - the menu states that a couple of the brunch items are weekly specials but the chalkboard didn't indicate them, so he should have told us without us asking). The food was just passable. I ordered the Migas because the guy at the table next to us had a delicious looking heaping plate( fyi he arrived 10 minutes after us but somehow got his food and finished before we even had our food). My plate was half that size and cold. The rest was cold and just ok-tasting. Reuben sandwich arrived without sauerkraut and waiter looked confused when we asked for some, like he didn't know what sauerkraut was. Had to flag down two other people other than our waiter in order to get another 20 minute mimosa. Just really, really bad service. I hope they can improve their team because this definitely wasn't...
