I had driven 4 hours in from Houston, my kids and I and our dog wanted to eat out I tried driving in town to Blanco but they had some water issues and most places were closed so we decided to go to Creekhouse after a quick search. We called to make sure we could bring our dog, the person on the phone said yes (didn't mention a reservation was needed) I even said I will be there in 25 mins (gps) they said fine see you soon. I make my way to the desk and the host said he can't seat me today, that I had to have a reservation and they have a rule that an hour before closing they don't take anyone walking in. I saw him x out the tables that were green right in front of me and say they have been reserved for 8pm, if anyone would cancel then they could seat me. So I said "so not today at all?" He wouldn't even look me in the face and said yeah no. I even said why didn't you say anything when I called and said I am on the way about reservations or anything. He just shrugged. I didn't understand why, my children and I look decent, put together and dressed nicely, if it was a matter of that and people were there dressed more casual than us. I left with my children and I disappointed because by now we couldn't even get to another place in time to eat. I would never recommend this place or even try it out (my son said maybe we can come back another time) we totally felt discriminated against maybe we are not the right shade for this establishment. The host was dismissive, wouldn't look me in the eye and just plain rude. We will be in town until Friday but I will gladly spend my money and time somewhere where they didn't turn us away in such a disgusting manner.
Response to the comment by the establishment:
AGAIN, as stated above, when I called 25 MINS BEFORE ARRIVING, the staff member who answered YOUR phone was made aware of the fact that I have a dog, at no point during that conversation was the option of myself being put down as a reservation even brought up! THAT is my point! Had I known I would have reserved an outdoor seating space, instead YOUR staff member said “yeah sure as long as you sit on the patio it’s no problem” NOTHING was mentioned of a reservation or anything. Train your staff better on phone etiquette and how to assess situations, this problem wasn’t brought on because I have a dog (what kind of excuse is that?? Y’all knew 25 mins before I arrived that I have a dog) it’s that you didn’t train your staff correctly to give out accurate information! Common sense says to tell the person calling about your dog policy and reserving a table for them if that is in fact your rules, not having someone drive into town to be turned away in front of other people. Do better don’t...
Read moreSeriously, don't go here. It's a great concept but horrible in practice. Overpriced incomplete food with poor service and disappointing experience. It's an extremely beautiful location, but after our second visit here, we are not coming back. First visit was slow service, and seating for 5 including 2 seniors only 3 feet from a large portable speaker turned up way too loud - yet the food was pretty decent! Second time with same family and seniors was new menu / 'no reservation allowed' 1 hour wait, our first choice items not in stock, two $20+ chicken fried steaks for kids WITHOUT GRAVY (also out of stock and revealed to us after the food arrived - we had to call the server back to ask), and having to wait 20 minutes after ordering drinks just to order food.
Some of our primary choices were out of stock , the cranberry slush drink ordered instead of the 86ed margarita tasted like a bacon flavored alcohol beverage - which would have maybe been accceptable if that was how it was marketed instead of grapefruit flavored. The chips and two tiny chip-breaking guac jars in the trio is just enough for 1 person which forces you to hunt down someone and ask for more. The truffled fries appetizer is mediocre. The remoulade for the blackened fish or shrimp is just salsa and not actual remoulade; we had 3 orders of this and all were surprised. And, seriously, how do you serve $20+ chicken fried steak WITHOUT GRAVY and only tell the customer you were out after serving it and forcing you to come back to answer? The only amazing standouts from this 3 digit bill were the brussel sprouts and the beer from deep elem. That's it.
Maybe we were paying for the view and not good food? I don't know. Definitely not the 2 unisex bathrooms; a kitchen employee came to use it while 7 of us were in line, and said (nicely) "is this the line for the bathroom? Of course, there's always a line." Gave us a smile and promptly left out the front door to go use the bathroom somewhere else. First visit here the bathroom plumbing was not complete and port-a-poties were outside - understandable and excusable.. but the bathrooms actually working didn't seem to fix much at all.
Two of us have worked at restaurants before; this isn't just an inexperienced review. worse yet, I blindly paid for the meal and gave the 20% tip because that's what is right to do. This review wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for the $230 bill for five discovered 2 days later. I haven't paid $230 for a meal for 5 in over a decade. Sad to say I won't ever come back. Fooled me twice, and that's on me; Don't let this place fool you too.
Even while I'm still writing, I want to like this place. Maybe something better will...
Read moreMy wife and I frequently eat at Creekhouse but typically sit at the bar were we have been pleased with the service and food. Our experience in the dinning room has been more hit or miss, and the last trip was definitely one of our worst.
We were originally seated outside on the deck and the initial service was good. We place our appetizer, mains, and drink orders quickly and were thankful because it was a chilly night and looking to eat and get out of the cold. The truffles fries we ordered as an app were delivered almost immediately but were unfortunately served cold. We didn’t complain as we recognized they were busy and frankly we were all hungry and ready to eat. We sat for another 30 mins and were twice told by the waitress our food was almost ready and would be right out. With a breeze on the deck the night turned cold and my wife went to ask if we could be moved to a table inside (there were at least 4 open.) she was told all the tables were taken or reserved. At 40 minutes I went inside to ask about the status of our order and to ask if we there was any way we could move inside even if we had to split up 2 & 2. The waitress said she would check again on both the food and the table. About 5 minutes later we were finally offered a table inside, but we still had to wait another 10 minutes before the first of our orders were delivered to the table, with one meal coming 5 minutes after that. It was almost an hour from the time we were seated and ordered till we ate. During that time several indoor tables sat unoccupied. Had we been served in a reasonable time we would have managed the cold, but the length of time made last night one of the worse dinning experiences I can recall ever.
Although the manager and waitress ultimately did apologize and offer to comp the appetizer and a dessert, we would have appreciated the recognition that it didn’t meet Creekhouse’s timely service standards earlier - it felt like too little too late, and something that could have been avoided with better initial attention to...
