We love Brookshire Brothers so much that we drove in from Lakeway on Friday, December 27, 2024, just to shop there and have lunch at their hot deli. Let me just tell you: We had the best fish sandwiches we have ever had in our lives there! The gent behind the counter was swamped when we showed up but he went to work on those sandwiches with determination, adding a galore of veggies to them and making them scrumptious. He even toasted the buns! We ate them in our car and were bowled by how fresh and delicious they were. This is the little grocery store that could. They have a great local coffee selection, too, and jams and honey, along with pickled vegetables and so much more! We just love the place. There's the store's Tobacco Barn next door with great selections of imported snus and domestic nasal snuff that you can't find anywhere else. We even bought some lottery tickets -- sadly those did not win, but it didn't matter because our trip to Brookshire Brothers was a total winner! We look forward to our next trip. It is a...
Read moreThe wait was easily over a half hour and it was not busy. The sandwiches were made with cheap ingredients. The woman making them didn't seem to know what she was doing, didn't put mayo or anything on on my husband's Italian sub, which was not on a roll, but instead three layers of wheat bread. Strangely, I got three layers of white Wonder bread, when it was supposed to be wheat berry bread, with a couple slices of Velveeta cheese, also no mayo but instead some sort of cranberry spread that was extremely sweet. I don't think she was properly trained because she walked around the front counter area to look at menu and then milled around the kitchen area looking for ingredients. I only noticed because so much time had passed and I started to wonder what was going on with our food. I never review restaurants or service, in fact this is my first review ever, which only further illustrates how awful...
Read moreSome people believe that HEB is a better store but I like Brookshire Bros because the produce is not prepackaged so I can select as many or as few of the fruits and vegetables that I want. The meat market here has much better deals on fresh meat, seafood, deli meats and cheeses. The staples here are basic and cheaper and I can tweek them with my own spices and flavorings to suit me. Canned goods can be found at slightly cheaper prices than here, but I generally go the fresh route anyway, and prepare most of my meals from scratch. The aisles are wider and the parking spaces are roomier. My grocery tab is always lower at Brookshire Bros than at the other available...
