I actually meant to leave this review alot earlier. My family and I came for an Early Father's Day Lunch on June 14th. My fiance and his brother are huge Pizza fanatics and had never experienced an UNO's before, so I brought them to the one that popped up in Winchester, nestled by The George Washington hotel. I was honestly shocked to see how quiet it was inside, with only a few folks seated. Because my party was of 6, the waitress proceeded to seat us and push two tables together when a very shrewd, nasty and rude women, seated with 2 young children and another lady with her phone out ,yelled at the top of her lungs " EXCUSE YOU!! WE ARE FILMING HERE! " The waitress explained we have a party of 6 that needs seated, and again the rude women yelled at the waitress " WELL SEAT THEM OVER THERE IN THE PRIVATE ROOM!"
While I wasn't disappointed we got to sit in the special private room, I wasn't particularly fond of the way that woman had yelled at the waitress. The woman was filming, I'm not sure what, she had no food there, two kids, and filming from another woman's phone. But what gave her the right to yell and mistreat my waitress like that was beyond me. .....I discovered that Woman turned out to be Suzi Smith, the General Manager of The George Washington Hotel. That was definitely a big put-off for me. I understand the UNOs buckles up to the hotel- but my waitress was there to serve paying customers and not cater to someone who is using the restaurant as her personal studio.
That aside, our experience was good! It took a little while for the food and drinks to reach the table, but the wait was worth it. The Crab dip was fantastic and the bread served with it was perfect. My Fiance absolutely loved his deep dish pizza. My son never seen a pizza that thick before and he couldn't get enough. My Fiances brother and his family also loved their food, although he would have liked to see his drinks come alot sooner. It was definitely nice to be put in the private room as well, away from the rude Manager of the George Washington Hotel... We will return to UNO's!!! But we did scratch the GWH off our wedding venue/honeymoon list.
As a Manager - she needs to reassess her management and communication skills to a...
Read moreWe just had a truly exceptional experience from start to finish. We came in at 9:00 but were absolutely not rushed and made to feel extremely welcome by the staff, which started with the hostess. In short, we didn't just get the best service we've ever received in Winchester; we got the best service we've ever received, period, which is highly impressive at this affordable price point. Our waiter, Stephen was absolutely exceptional. He was knowledgeable about the menu and his recommendation for the lemon vinaigrette was well received. Best garlic bread I have ever had for the appetizer. For the entree, on our first time, we figured we would stick to what made them famous and go for "The Uno"-a Chicago style pie with plenty of goodies on top. The sauce was so awesome, I could have drank a mason jar of it, ha ha. They executed well on their flagship entree; it did not disappoint. The menu was pretty big, so there's plenty for us to go back for, and we will. Our visit concluded with Walter asking if we enjoyed our experience. It was important to him to offer his business card and let us know to always feel free to call him if we're in on a busy night and he'll make sure we get a table. I was so totally impressed by that personal touch at the end of what was already a first class, five-star experience. My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner, and I could not have made a finer choice for where to take her. We never got to try George's, which is what used to be in this space on the ground level of the Wyndham Grand George Washington Hotel in Winchester, but whatever it was could not possibly have been better than what's there now. Bravo, and hats off to the entire service team from the hostess to Stephen and Walter, and also to the kitchen staff for an excellent meal with five star service at a value that anyone would appreciate. Wow. Go try it that's all we can...
Read moreI can't say anything about the food, as I didn't dine here. Im not sure if I ever will after being "scolded" twice within five minutes for walking through the main entrance to pick up a to go order. Upon walking up to the entrance of Uno's, which is located under the George Washington Hotel, there appears to be only one entrance from the street. If Management doesn't want Doordash, Ubereats, or Grub Hub to be seen walking through their main door, then either have a sign stating where food deliveries are to be picked up or discontinue using online ordering. I didn't appreciate being made to feel as if I was doing something wrong by picking up an order, just by walking through the main door. I'm leaving this review on the "hospitality" and the way I was made to feel. I definitely didn’t feel welcome. I was made to feel "trashy" because I'm a delivery driver (my second job) and shouldn't be seen coming through the main door. (Just because you're located within the George Washington Hotel doesn't make your restaurant that "high class." I've actually stayed in the hotel multiple times, but this experience has discouraged me from being a...
