Chihuahuas – 3.4/5, but the vibes? 4.2
Rolled into Chihuahuas with a party of five and a healthy appetite. Left with a full stomach, mixed feelings, and just a little confusion.
Facilities: I made a beeline for the bathroom, as one does. The urinal plumbing was doing the cha-cha, and the partition between the sink and the urinal was also living its best wobbly life. The soap dispenser required two hands and the strength of mild frustration to operate. Soap was fine. Water got warm before my patience ran out. A solid bathroom B-.
Chips & Salsa Saga: Big ups to the staff for bringing two chip buckets—like they knew we were about to crush some carbs. Chips had a funky little herby thing going on—kind of like if oregano joined a mariachi band. Mild salsa was too thin (we like our salsa like we like our plot lines: THICC). The hot salsa, though? Thiccc with three C’s and fire in its heart.
Asked for hot sauce. Got a “sure!” and… nothing. Vanished like a mirage. I asked again later and finally received some molten lava in a ramekin. Worth it.
Ambience: Music was a reggaeton party at first—accordion and trumpet really set the mood. Then, right as our food hit the table… country music took the wheel. A plot twist none of us saw coming. Some great wall signs, though: • “Start each day with a grateful heart” • “…pero primero, cerveza” Agreed.
Server was great with drink refills—sensed the soda water needs like a hydration psychic.
The Main Event: Food came out on time. Everyone got what they ordered, eventually. Let’s break it down: • Veggie Burrito: Surprisingly filling. Featuring unexpected guests like broccoli, carrots, and corn. Could’ve used cheese, but still tasty. I tapped out halfway through and boxed it myself, but props to our server for holding the bag open like a grocery store squire. • Chicken Enchiladas: Cheese-forward. Like, maybe too forward. A little dry overall. Refried beans were more like refried soup. • Chicken Torta: Did not skimp on guac (hero move). Still managed to be a bit dry—confusing but appreciated the effort.
Final Thoughts: It’s not bad, it’s not great—it’s like that friend you don’t hang out with often, but when you do, it’s mostly fine. 3.4/5 from me. I’ll probably try somewhere else next time I’m in Winnemucca, but hey—thanks for the thiccc salsa and the...
Read moreOur second time here as we are new to Winnemucca- Great food Try the Mango Strawberry Salad- YUM- Service though absolutely 0 - we never complain cause we just don't have time for it- but wow she was horrible- very pushy very in a hurry (place was not busy) did the minimum service possible and missed all the easy things- no chips or salsa were brought to the table upon arrival - altahough I wacthed three other tableas be seated by the same person and chips were brought out asap-- rushed taking our order- (made us feel very uncomfortable like it was a race or something ( understandable if you are in the weeds- but she was not- she was just plain rude- my drink sat empty the whole meal- I even sat my empty drink on the edge of the table- wife noticed at least 6 times she looked but kept passing- not once did she ask us if we needed anything- through the bill on the table walked off- we did ask for the chips- she did not say a word- went and got them and slung the bowl of chips on the table- I was like what in the hell- I was with my wife and 3 year old grandson- my wife wanted to ask her do we look like someone the has done something to you in the past- cause the treatment was darn right offensive-- any way- like I said the food is amazing but we will not support a place with this type of employee- going out is a treat these days cause of the economic strain- we expect freindly service to have a nice time this was far from it- later we packed up went to the cutest movie theater and the people at the theater had amazing service---- what a shame Chihuahus you really have something there but you service on this day was appauling- I am just a good ole cowboy who loves to treat his family to nice times--...
Read moreIf I could leave 0 stars I would. We received THE WORST service ever, got sick, and will never go back! It wasn't busy, but it was over 30 minutes before we got a kids menu to order off of. We asked for more chips never got any. We should have paid for our drinks and left. Instead my husband got up, found our waitress, and asked her to come over to take our order. She was talking to other people instead of listening to us. Once we got our food, one plate was wrong, and she had the nerve to argue with me about it! "No you said rice and beans" she said. "I said french fries." I said. My husband said nevermind get her the fries. She gave us a dirty look and never came back. No fries, no chips & salsa refill, we had to flag another waitress down for drink refills. The food was underpar. The chimichangas were not fried & crisp. My fish was very bland & not seasoned, and the salad came dry with no dressing. Just less than 48 hours later my daughter came down with a bad stomach bug, then my other kid, then myself, and my husband. We all got sick after eating here! I hate to wonder this, but are they racists? Do you have to have brown skin to eat here? Because other guests seemed to be having a great time. There was lost of happy socializing going on, waitress hovering around other tables, but we were shoved in a corner and forgotten about. For the first time in my life we left no tip. Not one red cent and I don't feel the least bit bad about that, in fact after getting sick we should get all of our money back. I would not recommend this...
