I have to visit Winona occasionally due to business, and much like other places I choose to frequent unique, hometown places instead of the usual strip mall giant conglomerate options. The hotels I stay at, which include Fairfield inn and Holiday Inn, are located near Route 14. A Google search brought up the 929 Beer House & Grill when I was looking for some late night grub.

I was a pleasantly surprised during my first visit and have been back numerous times thereafter. The bar itself is unassuming from the outside, but it's what's inside that matters. The employees have always been great, and they care about their patrons and cleanliness of the restaurant.

As for food, I've had both their wings and patty melt and both are very good. Of the two, I've had the patty melt more frequently as it just tastes excellent. Fresh cut fries are also a bonus. The wings, I've had extra crispy, dry with hot sauce on the side, and they were very good, too. I'm just more of a burger guy.

Winona, for a small town, has numerous quaint little options to eat. That's likely because it's a college town, but the 929 Bar & Grill is an option that I...

When I posted a review that my food was burnt, the burgers are flavorless and dry, and you always get super slow service. The nasty bar owner immediately contacted me & threatened she would file a false police report against me and that she could have me arrested if I didn't take the review down. ?? Since I now know she isn't as important as she thinks and that she can get into major trouble for falsifying a police report, I am happily re-posting my review. NOBODY should ever support lying wanna be NARCS in their community. The Kwik Trip a couple blocks away has friendly employees, & way better burgers along with many other food options. Additionally, you can get 4 cheese burgers with all the toppings for less money than one tasteless dry burger at this bar. The best part though is that it all comes WITHOUT a side of the nasty bar owners attitude. NEGATIVE 5 stars for threatening a paying customer, really bad food, &...

Cliff notes: Poor service, food was meh and it seemed like a scam the way they were doing pricing.

Honestly I wish I could give zero stars. We got into the restraunt and there were 3 other tables finishing up (we were the fourth table and shouldn’t of been an issue for 2 servers), sat down and it took about 10 minutes before one of the waitresses even acknowledged us. Each of the waitresses walked by at least 3 times to close out with the other tables and they didn’t say anything until we flagged them down. The menus have different pricing than what they actually charge you. on the menu it says the pricing reflects cash payment and tax. I asked about this and the waitress couldn’t tell me why she was charging more. And to top it off they forgot the cheesecurds in the sampler. Tip: the onion rings are not good, but the batter fried mushrooms were great. Completely disappointed, will not...

First off let me say that I was there on a Thursday during lunch, so there wasn't a ton going on. I had great conversation with the bartender during my visit who was also attentive to my food and drink needs. I ordered the corn dogs with a side of parm garlic and their mango habenero traditional wings. The food was amazing! For context I obsessively eat at Buffalo Wild Wings and yet I found these 2 sauces to be better here. The parm garlic was very flavorful and less clumpy than at BWW and the Mango Habenero was slightly less spicy in comparison but the sweetness and mango really came through. 100% would visit again. I was just riding through town and this was one of the few bars open earlier in the day.

Had heard good things about the food at this place, but my first experience was a big disappointment. Paid over $40 for two chicken tenders baskets and one order of cheese curds. The home cut fries were dark brown and soggy, they tasted like old burnt oil and seemed to be cooked at too low of a temperature. Chicken tenders were crispy, but the breading on them also tasted like old burnt oil. Cheese Curds were ok, but nothing special, and the portion size of the curds was not worth the price.

Wow. Will the owners have a smart aleck comment to make because I don't give more stars? Sat at bar- started out poor service when server was on phone and chatting with other workers. Had to flag down for refills. Yes the appetizers are prepackaged frozen food that you get at most bars. Had philly cheese steak sandwich which was ground hamburger with cheese on bun. All food was served hot though. Mediocre place. Not likely to go back.
