Mama Mia, BLL Rotisserie Factory – You Got Me Hooked, but We Need to Talk!
So, let me tell you, my friend, I strolled into BLL Rotisserie Factory a week ago, feeling a little bit hungry, a little bit curious, and craving some Italian comfort. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo, and let me tell you – bellissimo! The chicken was tender like it had been serenaded with love, moist and pulled straight off the rotisserie. Not that dry, sad chicken some places try to serve you. Oh no, this was chicken that had been loved!
Now, the Alfredo? Oh, creamy like a dream, but where was the garlic? I’m Italian – I’m waiting for that bam! in the mouth, you know? Maybe it was subtle on purpose – I couldn’t tell. But don’t get me wrong, I liked it so much that I went back the next week and ordered enough food for two days. Yeah, that’s right, I planned ahead.
Day one, I went for the Lobster Ravioli. I was excited – lobster and pasta? What could go wrong? Well... let me tell you – the ravioli itself was great, and the vodka sauce was spot on, just what I was hoping for. But when I got home, I realized I only got 4 ravioli! 4! The menu said 8 big ravioli – I got half of that! And yet, I paid full price. It felt like they were serving me the ravioli’s second cousins instead of the full family. Disappointing, to say the least.
Day two, I tried the Boscaiola with Penne and Chicken. After that Alfredo experience, I was expecting more of that rotisserie magic with the chicken. But what I got was just sliced chicken breast. I mean, it was tender, but not that wow I had before. And the sauce? Decent, but nowhere near as flavorful as that vodka sauce. Let’s just say it didn’t exactly sing “That’s Amore.”
I used their preferred merchant app, Slice, both times to order ahead – super easy and it racks up rewards points, which is nice. I do appreciate that they keep the food warm on top of the pizza oven, too.
But here’s the kicker: the first time I went to pick up my Alfredo late at night, I was greeted by this guy who looked like he just came from a Mafia meeting. You know the type – looks like he just “took care of business,” then went home to kiss his mother on the cheek. Polite, but in a “don’t mess with me” kinda way. I liked it! Felt like I was in a scene from The Godfather.
When I went back the second time, though, the Don was nowhere to be found. Instead, I walked in and locked eyes with some guy in the kitchen who clearly wasn’t in the mood to help me. He just stood there while my food sat right on top of the oven. I waited for a solid 3-4 minutes before some mini-Don came from the back to hand it to me, even though my food was basically at eye level. Guess the kitchen guy couldn’t reach it – poor fella!
Listen, despite all this, I’ll be back again next week. This time, I’m sticking with the Alfredo and crossing my fingers for a bit more garlic in that sauce. We'll see if I get it right this time....
Read moreNice local restaurant that is family owned and operated. Depending when you go the wife is usually there with a warm welcome and smile. She is super friendly and nice. The lunch wait staff is great and they get to know the regulars. The owner, who is also, the chef, isn't as welcoming as his wife. You don't get a warm welcoming feeling by him and aren't treated with the same kindness as her or the other wait staff. Maybe we encountered him on a few off days but haven't experienced a good day yet. The food overall is excellent but there are a few items that leave a lot to be desired. The pizza, calzones, and stromboli are all awesome. The pizza special on Monday and Saturday is a great bargain. The sauce is excellent too. Homemade and delicious!!! The specialty salads are very good with fresh spring greens and romaine. The house salad is nothing special and is typical iceberg lettuce mix with a onion slice, olive, and radish slice. The rotisserie chicken is excellent and well seasoned and moist. Always a favorite for us. The side items aren't the greatest. The vegetables are definitely a frozen mix bought in bulk from a wholesale club. We have tried everything from the mixed vegetables, green beans, broccoli, zucchini, corn. Unfortunately is all just frozen vegetables that are chewy, water logged and bland. You don't have a lot of other choices outside those or your french fries which are also frozen or rice. If they could improve the side choices to be fresh items that would be a huge improvement. Overall it is a good meal for the price depending what your order. We tend to order at the lower range of the menu but some entrees are rather pricey. We would recommend going and hopefully the wife and great wait staff are there...
Read moreI wish I had never came across this place on groupon. Yesterday the chicken over rice was just okay. Pieces of the chicken were dry and some of the other pieces weren't dry and the seasoned corn was disgusting. Although the sauted broccoli was good, I had no interest in going back, but unfortunately my better half wanted to go. Against my better judgement I decided to give this place a shot again. I was going to order stromboli, but we ate Mario's Pizza earlier today, and I didnt want to eat too much cheese. Anyway, this time I ordered the DRY 1/2 rotisserie chicken with brocolli and nasty mashed potatoes. I attempted to eat my food because I wasnt paying for it today, my better half was. I agreed to pay her back because I couldn't force myself to eat that dry a$$ chicken any longer. To put it in perspective, I normally dont touch my drink until I'm done with my meal, but their "specialty," rotisserie chicken is so dry you would choke if you didn't. My better half decided to speak to the friendly waitress in regards to the matter. The waitress then spoke with the owner and he said I had eaten half of the chicken so he can only take $1.50 off of the $12 meal or I can order another vegetable. Mind you, I didnt eat half of the 1/2 chicken. I cut it in half and attempted to eat the chicken, I couldn't force myself to eat the half of the chicken I cut completely and I didn't even touch the other half. The plate was sent back with the chicken and the mashed potatoes. The waitress was very apologetic and nice. However, I would never come...
