Disappointing Experience at Manny’s Chop House – Winter Haven, FL
From the moment we pulled up to Manny’s Chop House, the first impression was underwhelming. The exterior and entry area felt grimy and poorly maintained, giving off an air of neglect rather than charm. As we stepped inside, the atmosphere didn’t improve much. In the lobby, there’s a cooler displaying various cuts of pork and steak—some of which were pre-packaged and sitting on the top shelf. While this might be intended to show off their meat selection, it came off more like a butcher counter in a convenience store than a polished steakhouse feature.
A popcorn machine in the lobby seemed like an attempt at hospitality, but it missed the mark. A large tub of butter and popcorn kernels just sitting out looked lazy and unappealing—more like an afterthought than a welcome gesture.
The highlight of the visit was our waiter. He was courteous, engaged, and genuinely did his best to make the experience enjoyable. His hospitality was the only redeeming part of the evening.
Unfortunately, the food was nothing short of awful. It’s clear the kitchen is either completely mismanaged or simply doesn’t care about quality. I spoke with the waiter and mentioned that regardless of who’s cooking, someone has to be accountable for what leaves that kitchen and lands on the table.
My steak was overcooked, while my partner’s was nearly raw—neither of which matched our orders. I requested loaded mashed potatoes and instead received what resembled a dried-out baked potato. The broccoli was inedible: soggy, mushy, and completely lifeless.
Overall, Manny’s Chop House failed to deliver even the most basic expectations of a steakhouse. Between the lackluster environment, poorly presented lobby, and dismal food quality, this visit was a major letdown. The only thing that kept this from being a total disaster was the effort of our server. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to...
Read moreI recently dined at Manny’s Original Chophouse in Winter Haven, FL, and it was a great experience, with the food shining brightest despite a couple of minor issues. The food is a slam-dunk 5/5! I had a burger, and it was phenomenal—juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor, served on a toasted bun that made every bite amazing. The endless salad bowl with their signature garlic ranch dressing was fresh and so tasty I couldn’t get enough. The warm yeast rolls with cinnamon butter were pure heaven, so good I kept craving more. The fries, though crispy and well-seasoned, came in a smaller portion than I expected for a place known for hearty sides. Still, the meal’s quality was outstanding. The service, however, was a bit disappointing, earning a 3/5. The staff were friendly, but the pacing was off. Drinks took a while, and we had to flag down our server for refills or updates. The biggest letdown was the slow refill on those incredible yeast rolls—I kept wanting more, but they didn’t come out fast enough, which was frustrating given how delicious they were. It felt like they were stretched thin, as I’ve seen reviews praising their service on other nights, so maybe we caught them on a busy evening. The atmosphere gets a solid 4/5. Manny’s has a fun, classic steakhouse vibe with quirky decor—license plates and vintage touches—that creates a lively, welcoming energy. It’s perfect for a family meal or a night out with friends, with a bustling feel that adds to the occasion. The only minor drawback is the noise; when it’s packed, it gets loud, making it a bit hard to chat. Overall, Manny’s in Winter Haven is a must-visit for its phenomenal food and vibrant atmosphere, even if the fry portion was light and the roll refills lagged. If the service can keep up with the kitchen’s excellence, it’d be unbeatable. I’m already dreaming of that burger and more of...
Read moreI have been to Manny's twice. The first time I got a steak and it was kinda grayish and not great. Fast forward a few years and my husband wants to try again for Father's day. Everything started off great. Got there about 7:40, seated after maybe 10 minutes. Waitress was quickly got to use and introduced herself and took our drink order. Maybe 5 minutes later she comes back with them and we place our food order at about 7:50. At around 8:20 she swings by and says it will be just a few more minutes. Gave grace because it is Father's day even though it isn't packed at this time of night but ok. 8:40 I see people who sat after us, finishing their meals and our food finally arrives. My burger that I ordered MR comes to the table well done. The waitress swings by maybe a minute after asking how everything was. I asked her if I could get a different burger because this one was way over done. She is like of course and runs off to place the order. MR burgers only take maybe 8 minutes to cook. Another 20 minutes goes by, it's 9:00, my family has finished eating and this huge burger on a tiny bun comes out. I said to her it was huge and she's like that's because they ran out of regular buns and it was a kid bun that's why it looked so big. I said no way that's a 1 lb burger, it's humongous. She admits it probably is a 1 lber.... on a kid bun. I tell her I just want a to go box at this point I want to go home. She offers a free desert to take home but I just want to go. She grabs the boxes and brings us the check. We pay, including for the burger that at this point I don't even want, and leave. Unless my husband wants to go with the kids, we will not be back. Can't say...
