Marker 21 — Restaurant in Wolfeboro

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our latest experience at Marker 21 left us frustrated and deeply disappointed. I should also say, before leaving a review we reached out via their website but never received a response.

On July 17th around 5pm we visited Marker 21 like we like to do a few times a month. We sat at the bar on the third floor like always. While the food was amazing as always, the service was, unfortunately, one of the worst we have encountered in a long time. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the staff was uninterested. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order, then we had to ask if we could order our food.

The real issue though, came once we got our food. My husband got a burger with fries. He went to go use the mustard, but the bottle had so much crust in and around the top that he couldn't even squirt anything out of it and had to take the cap off. Not to mention both ketchup bottles were empty so he couldn't use that either.

We politely asked our bartender if the mustard could be cleaned or replaced. Instead of simply swapping it out, she seemed visibly annoyed — and after that, we were essentially ignored for the rest of our visit. Neither bartender came back to check on us, didn’t refill our drinks, and never cleared our plates despite walking back and forth at least 20 times because at this point, we were the only patrons at the bar.

It was incredibly uncomfortable and felt like we were being punished for pointing out something that should’ve already been taken care of. It’s one thing for service to be slow on a busy night, but this felt deliberate and unprofessional. We left without another round of drinks — not because we didn’t want them, but because no one gave us the chance.

We quite literally were ignored for the duration of our visit because we asked her to clean the disgusting mustard bottle. I sat there with an empty water and empty cocktail until I finally asked for the bill. Sadly, we will find another restaurant in town to visit...

Had a late lunch there today and high expectations turned into an underwhelming experience. Our server Sophie took our drink order and when she brought the drinks said they were out of ice tea, not a big deal. Asked what the soup of the day was, she went and asked, came back and said it was a beer base and they haven’t sold any. Ordered lunch and after some time the food was delivered to 4 of the 5 of us. We said an order was missing and she said she thinks she forgot to put that one in, that she would do it then and since the rest of us were eating she could make it to go. She brought that meal when the rest of were done and went to hand the plate to the diner. We reminded her it was going to be to go since everyone had eaten and the kicker is the order even had the wring side. Other meals were over cooked and sides cold, asked for two to go containers, she brought 1 and to go back for a second one. When we were leaving we noticed a pice of metal wire sticking out of the bottom of one of the container. Never told there was an up charge for the sides, for $167 we expected more, at least an average experience. Did not even get an apology for messing up the order or comped at all for all the mistakes.

Bottom line, there are other options in downtown...

My wife and I came to Marker 21 on an early Friday afternoon and were immediately sat on the 3rd floor on the inside. Our waitress Lexi was terrible. We waited for 35 minutes before she took our drink order and an additional 20 minutes for our drinks that were no more than a cup of water. Lexi said “I’ll be right back to get your order” then disappeared for an additional 15 minutes before coming back for our order. We ordered a flatbread, nachos and the Marker burger. Sadly it took an additional hour for the food to come out and Lexi never came back to check on us or refill our drinks. When the food was delivered Lexi simply dropped it off and disappeared again. The flatbread was BURNT and the nachos were cold and stale and we ordered the burger to be cooked medium and it came out very rare. I had to get the attention of a different server to find Lexi to fix our terrible meal. After another hour of waiting 2 of the 3 meals came out correctly. Mind you it took over 3 hours for just my wife and I to eat. We had to get our own silverware and fill our own water. I would not recommend this restaurant as it is nothing more than a...
