I'm a regular Jersey Mike's customer and typically prefer the Woodbridge location over the Sayreville one due to consistently better service and quality. However, my experience on Friday, February 28th, was far from satisfactory. I placed an online order for pickup, expecting a quick and convenient experience. Upon arriving just five minutes later, I found three employees working exclusively on online orders, while only one was handling walk-ins. Despite my online order being placed well in advance, I waited over 20 minutes. During this time, walk-in customers were served and left, and another customer inquired about their delayed order. It became apparent that the employees handling online orders were in training, which seemed ill-timed during a busy period. To add to the frustration, after finally receiving my order, I discovered it was the wrong sandwich. This is a serious issue, especially for those with allergies. Attention to detail is crucial in food service. When I returned to the store to address the error, the employee acknowledged the mistake but then proceeded to open my correct sandwich with his gloved fingers to verify the ingredients. This was unsanitary and frankly, quite off-putting. At that point, a new sandwich should have been made. While I understand that staff training is necessary, it should ideally be conducted during less busy times. The person handling walk-ins was clearly more efficient and attentive. In the future, I will likely revert to ordering in person to avoid the issues I encountered with the online system. Read moreMy husband ordered a giant Philly cheese steak at 7:20pm. There were only 2 people in Jersey Mikes when we placed an order. Within 10 minutes it got crowded with door dash delivers & people placing orders. We watched everyone come in after us receive their orders & still didn’t receive ours. We asked about our order & was told that they ran out of white bread & they are waiting on white hero bread. The chick that looks like Drew Carey asked my husband if he wanted wheat bread instead. He said no & Drew Carey said it will be a few minutes. About another 30 minutes goes by & more people’s orders are filled. So I asked why is the order still not ready & Drew Carey says we still waiting on the bread she apologized with an attitude & I said that we watched people come in after us receive what they ordered & gone. Drew Carey got defensive when I said that it doesn’t make any sense that we have not received our order that was placed at 7:20pm & it is now 8:05pm. Drew Carey said they already placed those orders. I said not before we did. She then gets nasty & ask do you want a refund, my husband said no & then Drew says well you just have to wait for the bread very nasty. So I said that it doesn’t make any sense and Drew Carey said that I don’t have to be loud and that I was being rude and that she could call somebody. I said that I wasn’t being loud or rude. Drew Carey then says she is gonna give us a refund & we can get out of her store. We spent another 10 minutes for them to look up our transaction so they can refund my husband card. For this reason, I was excited for the opening of the brand new Jersey Mike’s near my home to eat subs at my heart’s content.
I was hoping to have a good experience as this was a brand new location but I was sadly disappointed. The staff at this location did not embody customer service and behind the counter were inappropriate as they were yelling profanities and not handling the food appropriately. On the day that I visited, the store was busy at around 12-1 pm.
The subs were thrown around and toppings were seen flying all over the place. Once they were done putting the toppings, they threw the sandwich so hard on the paper that all the meats and topping came out of the subs. All while the staff members joked around and used profanity. The individual handling my food just picked it up and threw it all back on while laughing (not neat but slopped on like a kid playing with his food).
Seeing my food handled in such a manner was disgusting and for $20.00 + I expected better service. So far, I have been there twice, and the experiences continue to get worse. I hope that they change or train their staff better if they wish to remain open for...
