Just popped up near work, they have a decent lunch special, and the food is delicious. They apparently have other locations near Chantilly (I haven't tried the other locations). I will be making it a permanent part of our work lunch rotation if the quality holds up.
I do have a single criticism, their platters for families or small groups feel as though they are priced erroneously. I was going to pick They quoted me $100 for a meal to fit 3-4 people. I have a different place I go to regularly by my house that has a similar meal designed for 3-4 for around $60, so I was taken back with the much higher price.
I pressed a little bit and asked why wouldn't I just buy 4 individual meals for around $15 each and still be well below the $100. Their response was "but there's more food than individual meals". Good response I suppose, but I countered again with the fact that the additional $40 I was saving by buying 4 individual meals still could buy more food if I wanted to. The icing on the cake was the chef singing a traditional Afghan song while he cooked, adding a wonderful touch to the ambiance.
Don't judge a book by its cover - this hidden gem serves up delicious, authentic Afghan cuisine with a side of warm...
Read moreNewly opened Afghan restaurant and this is my second time ordering the boneless chicken kabobs. Only change I made was getting the spinach on my first visit and chickpeas for my second visit. I am favoring the chickpeas over the spinach. The rice served with the meal has julienne carrots and raisins, which add a nice sweetness. Most places serve the plain rice rather than the traditional Afghan rice dish. The chicken is tender and flavorful and I plan to try the lamb kabobs on my next visit and possibly some other dishes. The two gentlemen are very friendly and inviting. Definitely on my...
