My wife, son, and I went to Kabobistan based on conversations and photos on NextDoor.
TLDR: great service, excellent food overall. Give it a try! Recommended 100%!
We ordered (3) of the chicken/lamb kabob meals -one each with chick peas, spinach, and okra so that we could get a decent sampling.
Let me tell you about the rice first: It was extremely flavorful long grain rice, as is expected. There were no lumps or clumps, not saturated with oil like some places. My wife and son both said this was some of the best rice they have ever had. I've had lots of Afghanistan style food over the years, and I would say this rice is definitely in the top ten. Colorful, flavorful, loose/non clumping, not overly spiced, cooked-to-perfection rice. You won't be disappointed by the rice.
The spinach: Stay with me as I preface that ugh...I hate cooked spinach...the texture of cooked spinach could make me revisit last week's food again - so needless to say I am a little biased offering my opinion on something I historically hate. :)
But being I'm a glutton for punishment, I attempted a (small!) taste based on the "it's fabulous!" declaration my wife made! Yes, my wife loved it the spinach! While that texture thing of mine gets in the way of actually saying I like it, I'll go so far as to admit it was not a bad flavor. That's huge coming from me! I might have mentioned I hate cooked spinach, lol, but if the spinach hating person I am can not say this was bad, then it must indeed be fabulous for someone who likes spinach!
The okra: This was, as I expected, served almost like a kind of soup. It was extremely well seasoned with nice sized pieces of okra making up the bulk of it. Excellent flavor, perfect seasoning that added to the flavor of okra without being overpowering. Excellent!
The chick peas: These were the typical "soup/curry" style. I found them delightful, but at the same time the depth of flavor was nothing out of the ordinary. However, what I am describing is what I expect out of chick peas, and is exactly what I'm looking for when I order them. I don't want a dish of chick peas so spiced my nose runs, or so sweet it's could pass for a dessert. No, chick peas are a staple item, and these fit that bill perfectly. Out of the three side dishes, these would be my go to.
The side salad: very fresh tasting ingredients, exactly what I would expect.
Bread(Naan) - made in house, perfectly! Rip you a piece, pack it with meat and rice, enjoy!
The chicken: Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. I loved the everything about it, excellent flavor. Definitely a must try!
The Lamb: Ah, the grilled and seasoned to perfection star of the show. This is what it's about! Imo, a top 5 of all the places I've ever been. This right here, this will have me coming back. If you like lamb kabob, this is going to make your taste buds happy! Just order it, you are welcome.
The service: literally everyone in the place was very nice to us. The service and overall treatment was fabulous!
I think it's worth noting that our only communication issue was due to my trouble hearing in noisy environments. There was no language barrier that we experienced, zero issues at all! excellent friendly service! Frankly, based on our experience, I have to wonder if some of the low ratings have come from jealous competitors, lol!
Conclusion: this is a place worth going to. We will definitely be back....
Read moreI recently visited your restaurant, excited to try your authentic and delightful food for Iftar. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. Despite having a large kitchen staff, the service was slow and disorganized. I had to take the initiative to place my order at the counter, and even then, my order was mixed up with someone else's and wasn’t ready when I asked.
After a 30-minute wait, I had to request my order again, which was frustrating. When my food arrived, the Chaplee kabob were poorly presented, appearing carelessly cooked and plated, I recommend a circular plate for this kind of food to take out.
The kitchen atmosphere was chaotic, noisy, and crowded, which made for an uninviting dining environment. As a customer, I expect a certain level of service, which was lacking during my visit.
Unfortunately, the taste of the food didn't meet my expectations either when I was broken my fast couldn’t eat much, as someone who has tried many different cuisines, I was disappointed by the lack of flavor and authenticity in your dishes. I understand that every restaurant has off days.
I hope you take my feedback seriously and take steps to improve the quality and taste of your food presentation, and overall dining experience. With some adjustments, I believe your restaurant has the potential to live up to its claims of authentic and...
Read moreThe food is phenomenal, but the service is really bad. The management is weak, and there is no dedicated manager to discuss any issues with. I believe it’s a family-run business where everyone acts as a manager.
DO NOT ORDER CATERING from this place because they have no idea how to handle catering, as they are new to the business. They charge extra for catering but provide the same portion sizes as individual orders. For example, if you order catering for 20 people, they give food for exactly 20 people as if it were a regular dine-in order. However, they charge $30-$40 per person, even though the same meal is priced at only $18.99 on their menu.
We had a terrible experience with their catering service. The food was not ready on time, and the staff argued back and forth with us because they lacked proper catering knowledge. There was no single manager available to resolve the issue. The person who initially introduced himself as the manager when we placed the order was struggling to manage the situation. When we arrived to pick up the food, multiple people claimed to be the manager, and they treated us very poorly.
At one point, they even told us to take our money back because they couldn’t provide the food. It was EID day, and they completely lost control of the situation due to the overwhelming crowd. I also witnessed them arguing with...
