My grandma was born in Mexico, she could have had her own restaurant….I grew up on Mexican food. This was NOT like her food. I went here years ago, and we returned tonight, hoping the quality had improved. I think it’s worse. We got what appeared to be canned meat, chopped into chunks, in canned/jarred sauce, inside grocery store quality tortillas. Covered in cheese. My husband eats everything that I don’t, I’m pickier than he is, but he pushed his plate away saying he wouldn’t eat it. I tried his too, thinking it had to be better than mine, but it wasn’t. Drinks were small, full of ice, without much tequila, which is totally not what you expect from a Mexican restaurant either. We paid $72 for food we never ate, sending our food back after three bites each….. I couldn’t identify the taste or the texture of the meat inside mine (should have been pork carnitas), doused in a bland mystery sauce, inside a flavorless tortilla covered in melted queso. (The queso was the only good part). The meat was very similar to the “mystery meat” on take-out chow mein…..but cut into diamond chunks like Spam. No flavor to it at all. Do people not notice what they are eating, or what they are paying for??? We have never complained about food quality before, at a restaurant, and it has to be really bad, for us to say something about it. It’s so disappointing, that people can’t tell really good Mexican food from the bad, Taco-Bell type food, served at a much more premium price. Mexican food should be made with pride, and love, and with great care. It’s an art form, and needs quality skills. Some foods take days to make, and it doesn’t EVER come from a can……We had to politely tell management that we won’t come back even for any “credit”. He was a very nice man, but our waitress wasn’t very friendly, or attentive to our family. Not even for almost $100. (Not chump change where I come from-even if it is Woodbury). That didn’t help our experience, as we rarely eat out anymore. Other staff were pretty polite. Our waitress merely said, “sorry”, as she took our plates to the trash. We had to go find the manager, on our way out, to tell him our food was inedible, and we got a credit, for “next time”, that we won’t ever use, because we won’t go back there. (We took only the chicken strips and french fries home. Probably from Sysco). Is the $72 worth it to upset customers, who won’t return, cutting corners with bad food, and indifferent service? How do they stay in business? I just don’t know. Maybe people don’t care what they eat, or if they feel welcomed, when they are simply hungry, and just want to eat. It's so sad to me. It could be a great place, if they just put some more care into...
Read moreI have never before left a review about the terrible service and food at a restaurant but my experience tonight blew my mind in a terrible way. My friend and I were at the Woodbury location and had a woman waitress. We ordered our drinks and some cheese dip that came out luke warm and clumpy. Okay, it still tasted okay but I didn't say anything to the waitress. She took our order and a long time later the food was delivered by someone else. My friend got her food and they didn't bring out the tortillas to go with her Carne Asada until about 10 minutes later. That didn't really matter because the food came out looking like it was sitting under a heat lamp for 20 minutes but was still cold. The waitress never came back and when she finally did and we were ready to leave, she asked me how everything was, my plate was still full while it was sitting in front of me, and when I told her it was terrible, she laughed at me. I could not believe that reaction - she didn't apologize or offer to bring both of us new food because neither of us ate our meal. The nerve of her to laugh at my response was completely unacceptable. Not only was the food bad and cold but the service was insulting. She charged me for the full meal even though it was inedible and handed me the payment device twice because I picked no tip the first time so I picked no tip the second time. I have never in my life had a worse server and I have worked many years in the hospitality industry including being a server. I could not believe that I was laughed at when I said the food was terrible with a full plate in front of me. My friend and I will not be back to your restaurant due to the service and the inedible food that was served to us tonight. I cannot believe I was made to pay for the cold food that...
Read moreWorst food I’ve ever been served at a restaurant, period. We ordered the Enchiladas Verde and the fajitas. The waitress told us they had issues in the kitchen and apologized for the wait. 45 min later we received our food and it was cold.
The enchiladas looked like it was served from a cafeteria. Piled sloppy on the plate with a clear watery liquid at the bottom. The enchiladas were cold, and so salty I couldn’t eat it. I took 2 bites and couldn’t bare to eat it. The absolute nastiest / flavorless / saltiest food I’ve tried. My mouth still feels odd after trying it. It was like pure saltwater on a plate.
The fajitas were cold and cooked in a sauce that legit taste like spaghetti sauce. It was just so odd tasting. Chicken and fajita was again cold and the tortillas were straight off the shelf bagged tortillas. They were cold, not toasted or steamed… just straight out the box and to the plate.
Honestly, I don’t know how this place has 4 stars as I don’t see anyone enjoying what was served tonight. The only thing I can think of is the chef called out or something and they had someone who has no idea what they were doing cooking. I’m not picky on food … but both dishes were cold, the fajitas were gross and the enchiladas were absolutely inedible.
The waitress even knew the food was gross as we received our food and then asked for the bill 5 minutes later. She didn’t ask how it was just took payment… with 2 full plates of “food” on the table. We didn’t mention how horrible the food was as I’m sure she could put 2 and 2 together.
But, I hope this helps someone else not waste money and an evening to eat here. And hopefully they...
