Spent $30+ (not including gratuity) on 1 order of happy hour street tacos and 2 coronas...Bartender was tired and slow. I guess he had to charge me for conversation. This place has seen better days and has had good servers but not sure they care about quality service anymore. Last week my wife gave me a bad report saying service was terrible bc somebody threw her food down on the table like she was less than a person. TV was losing connection today also. Not sure if they can afford cable either. Maybe an attitude check needs to happen here. Karoke Saturday is entertaining and fun. Taco Tuesday is great. Food is good and patrons are awesome but i think staff has lost sight of how good it is to have a job that provides for their family or just forgot about dedication to an amazing and comfortable establishment. Nothing in the restaurant industry should stress anybody out so bad that they cant supply good service. Like i said food is good but Rooney's could be better with proper employee perspective. I definitely love the location and hours open, but if something needs to be done to satisfy workers here, please do it. Tip, current hourly wage, and regular appearances from locals isnt...
Read moreRooney's Bar left an awful taste in our mouths, and not because of the drinks — we never even got that far. We showed up to celebrate my friend's 22nd birthday, just trying to enjoy a few beers with the guys before heading back home after our summer jobs. It was supposed to be a chill, meaningful sendoff — we won't see each other again for eight months. But Rooney's decided to kill the vibe immediately. They refused to let my friend in — the birthday guy, no less — just because his ID was vertical, despite the fact that it clearly showed he was 22 YEARS OLD. Seriously? It wasn’t expired, it was state-issued, and he’s a full-grown adult. There's a difference between enforcing the law and being rigid to the point of ridiculousness. We weren’t trying to get rowdy, cause trouble, or anything. We just wanted a couple beers and some good memories before going our separate ways. Instead, we got disrespected, turned away, and left scrambling to find another place that would actually treat adults like adults. Rooney’s had the chance to be the backdrop to a great memory, and instead they became the reason the night went south. Won’t be coming back — and I’ll be telling others to...
Read moreHe must've been tired already... coz the service came (almost) 10 mins after we sat ourselves in the high chair section close to the main bar. He was the only one we saw available to wait and tend for customers. Anyways, the hanger steak was really good at Rooney's. I ordered rare on mine, but might have been left longer in the flame coz there's no more oozing juicyness from it 😞 and medium for my buddy's was just right... on top of delicious mash-po with gravy! The appetizer salad could use a little more kick on the dressing, some sliced onions perhaps (just me). Perhaps, have more of cust-interaction so as not to mess up orders. Also, to know what's the customers wanted and not in their order - this latter suggestion will save them resources coz my buddy didn't like croutons in his appetizer more than mine, and he's not a fan of it. Ambiance is more than quaint. Actually, it's quite good! The dirty martinis were better tasting than Chan's Place (which is our usual place). But, only 2 pitted olives were in it vs 3 at Chan's Place. They don't or didn't have Dissorono at the time, but all in all great experience for us. We will go back...
