I went to Pure to get food and drinks with some friends. They raved about the drinks and service so I was excited to give it a try. Our server Will was FANTASTIC! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommendations. However, the problem arose when it was time to order drinks. He said he had to have their manager check my ID (understandable because I’m young and South Carolina IDs don’t look the best), but then came out to inform me that they “couldn’t accept my ID because it didn’t pass their tests”. I am a legal adult with a real ID from South Carolina who has never had a problem with my ID so that made no sense. He understood my concern and sent their manager, Zach, outside to explain. This is where our problems came up. Zach from the start was extremely rude and tried to say my license did not pass a “blacklight” test, which was false because I’ve seen my ID scanned in person multiple times and I have never had a problem, nor has it ever been questioned. He also (falsely) stated that he compared it to a book with real licenses and that it did not match. I know for a fact this is false because I’ve seen it compared to other IDs in liquor stores numerous times (it had been compared to one hours before) and they’ve never had a problem. We asked if they had an updated book because of the status of real SC IDs and he conveniently stated that they got an updated book in the night before. Already frustrated and determined to prove a point, I provided DMV proof and proof of other identification and he still denied it, along with giving a HORRIBLE attitude the entire time. Later in the meal, our server made the comment that they don’t have a scanner and that his manager probably guessed it was fake because of how new it looked. He stated that they recently were caught for serving underage people so they had to be cautious. While this is understandable, it’s not a valid reason to prohibit someone of legal age from having a drink. For what was supposed to be an exciting meal, it was ruined by a manager’s stubborn and horrible attitude. As a server, I understand being weary of fakes but after NUMEROUS ways to prove it was real, the attitude and service provided by management was unnecessary. It’s a shame that a place with such great food doesn’t have management to match! We will not be returning specifically because of Zach. Will was great and I recommend him to anyone dining with them...
Read moreSub par is being very generous in relevance to the food at this place. I was incredibly excited to see birria tacos offered. Then just looking at them the presentation had me disappointed. On 3 tacos there was maybe 4 ounces of an indistinguishable meat (it was supposed to be lamb leg....but I'm not convinced. At all) and there was apparently some cheese as well but I couldn't see nor could I taste it? The tacos were very scant, and then the bite. Yikes. No flavor AT ALL. It was the most bland thing I may have ever eaten. I don't know how something can just taste like chewy, without having anything redeemable to say about it. I tried hard to just keep my plate and eat it. I added crema from my sisters plate, dipped the taco in the sauce, and dressed it in everything that was on the plate. Still......no coming back from them. (The charro beans were good though) I wound up finishing my sisters taquitos, which were ok. I'm not a chicken fan, but was very hungry, so I ate them. We also tried both dessert offerings. The tres leche cake and key lime pie. The tres leche tasted like it had rum in it which is a hard pass for me, however our friends thought it was good. The texture was really nice, I just can't do rum. The keylime pie was more of a cheesecake with some lime flavor and topped with strawberries. . . which is odd. It wasn't bad at all, but for sure was not a traditional key lime pie. The saving grace for this place was their rooftop server Sofia. She was EXCEPTIONAL. So kind, and incredibly attentive. She worked diligently to make sure all of her guests were well cared for, and that the drinks were never empty. The musical talent they had there (Dave Ferguson) tonight was REALLY great too. We loved him. We will for sure go see Dave wherever he goes next, but will not be visiting Pure...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences! The "complimentary" valet stop me from pulling into one of the designated parking spots for Kale Me Crazy and advise me to park in another one but at the time there wasn't any spaces available. He then told to park into the handicap and he would watch out for me. I called him a "b+€#h and waited for someone to leave Kale Me Crazy which where i was actually trying to patronize. I went into to speak to management and advise that their parking bully could not make it mandatory to utilize their "complimentary" services and shouldn't suggest illegal actions. I then went into Kale Me Crazy with me friends visiting Atlanta from Houston. Oh, it wasn't over the staff of Pure came up to me friends as i began to walk out of the park to show them King of Pops and the entry of the belting. I then went over to Atlanta PD and explained the entire situation one of the male staff members came up as i was speaking to the police about the now three staff members from Pure. He advise me if i left the parking lot they could then tow my car. But before the police officer could tell that one of the staff members told me to remove my car,he was kicking out of the parking lot. I'm an Atlanta native and the gentrified establishment think they can bully people. The entire establishment sucks! Great introduction to my visiting friends on how Atlanta treats people just f'ing PARKING! I wouldnt dare patronize this...
