I have a story to tell you, but let’s start with the conclusion: I will never set foot in this restaurant ever again.
Here’s why: it was a Saturday, and the restaurant was slammed as most are in Woodstock at this time. However, the cracks started to show quickly. Our waiter had at least six tables, my wife’s drink order he forgot, and the one he remembered still took 15 minutes to arrive. the table next to us had arrived one hour earlier and we’re eagerly staring at the kitchen, hoping their food would arrive. (Ultimately an hour after we sat down, they left.) We saw one table that sat down 30 minutes after us receive their entrées. When we arrived, the bar was empty and by the time I was at the hostess stand it was full and each person there had an entrée plate in front of them. The expo was as having to take plates to tables. Two people behind me were in line to complain who had also previously bin seated
The five of us I had a unique situation I that I needed to go pick up my daughter from a birthday party at a friends house. For a 6:30 reservation, it should not have been difficult to eat my food and leave everyone else there by 8 o’clock. This isn’t Barcelona where a dinner should take 4 hours.
When it was clear that the restaurant was in so much chaos that there was no chance of getting my food by this time, I went to the host stand and politely asked them to take my food off our ticket, if it had not yet begun to be prepared by the kitchen.
It was at this point that I was spoken to, and glared at, in a way that I can’t ever recall happening. When my request was rejected, I stated that we had not not seen our waiter for 20 to 30 minutes, which was true, and I was told that cant be true. (We did not see him for another 10 minutes after this either). How bad does it have to be that people seated at tables have to go up to the stand to be seen?
The whole experience was a disaster. The food that did arrive was tasty, but it’s hard to say that we had a good meal when everything around our table was falling apart and when the staff speaks to you the way I was spoken to, It doesn’t matter...
Read moreI ate here last night, I was excited to try this restaurant being pescatarian I’m always looking for a good fish restaurant. We made reservations for 8:15 and the hostess forgot about us and we weren’t sat until 8:30 while we watched other customers walk in and be seated. Whatever, no biggie, we were sat at a table and 20 minutes go by with nobody acknowledging us at all. Our server finally comes and she is really nice, at this point we’re starving and I ordered the gumbo and we go ahead and place our entree orders as well. We wait 15 minutes just for the gumbo to arrive which I couldn’t eat because it had meat, which isn’t a big deal and happens all the time, so I let the waitress know and she puts in the clam chowder for me as I’m dying of hunger by this point. She brings it out quickly and guess what? It has ham in it so I couldn’t eat it. This is after letting her know I don’t eat meat. She takes it off the bill and we wait another 15 minutes to get our entrees, by this point it’s 9:30 and we arrived at 8:15. After being served our food, we sit and wait bellies rumbling and we can’t even eat our food because we have no silverware. No silverware after sitting here for over an hour to get our food! The bartender who was empathizing with the upset customers kindly gave us silverware. I ordered the redfish which was just okay, not enough sauce and the asparagus was not seasoned, for 33$ fish it should be to die for. Mid-meal, a server (blonde older woman) is walking around hollering that “she needs a drink”. It seemed like maybe she already had one as she rudely pushed my boyfriend while he was eating by accident and barely even acknowledged him! This restaurant needs some serious new management and they need to take notes from Century House across the street. Finally, on our way home BOTH me and my boyfriend got so sick. This place claims to serve fresh fish and it seems like maybe they aren’t storing it properly, just take a look at their food standards… I wouldn’t recommend this place to my...
Read moreWe had a 7 pm reservation for 4 and were seated promptly. They were very busy and crowded, and the noise level was extremely loud. One had to shout across the table to be heard. 10 minutes after we were seated we had our water glasses filled by a manager, 20 minutes we finally saw our waiter, who possessed a peculiar attitude of disdain. No mention of specials, no recommendations. We ordered oysters on the half shell and barbeque shrimp which came out 15 minutes later, along with two appetizer plates (the were 4 of us), and no spoon for the cocktail and horseradish sauce. When he finally came back we asked for the additional plates and serving spoon and he questioned what we needed a spoon for, after which he made it very clear by his look that we were displeasing him. Someone else brought the spoon and plates. Then our main entrees arrived, ONE AT A TIME 5 MINUTES APART. They were all delicious, btw. Our lobster Mac and cheese did not come as they burned the first batch and it would be another 20 minutes. I told our waiter we wouldn't be interested and he said they would comp the side and desserts for the table, and I said ok but nevermind the Mac and cheese. 25 minutes later we are completely finished with empty plates and they bring the Mac and cheese. When our waiter finally appears we order two desserts, and our waiter says "we're only comping one dessert". At this point we'd agree to almost anything to get out of there, so ok. Desserts arrived separately, 10 minutes apart. When I received the bill I'm charged a $1 separately for my Manhatten drink ROCKS which I questioned, " oh we always do that". Never been charged $1 for ice. Long story short, food was wonderful, service was horrible, and the noise level was out of control. If I ever go back it won't be on a Friday night, and Covid had nothing to do with service because they had staff standing around...
