This restaurant just reached the very top of my list for downtown Woodstock restaurants. This is only our second time coming and this visit sealed the deal. My wife and I came here on a Friday night for a date night. The place was packed as usual and we started at the bar with a couple of glasses of wine. Our bartender Ethan was excellent! Got our drinks quickly and offered menus. It's seems that every great bartender is named Ethan! Definitely seek him out at the bar! We were seated at a nice little table for 2 and our server immediately greeted us and took our drink order. I ordered a Snake Bite. Ask Ethan. He knows how to make it and we ordered the Honey and Jalapeño glazed pork belly as an appetizer. This is my absolute favorite small plate that they serve! Cheesy grits topped with the most tender pork belly slices with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. Just melts in your mouth! Our entrees were equally spectacular! I had the French Dip that came with the coolest (not temperature cool, cool cool) fries on the planet! Not exactly sure how they cut them the way that they do but the fries are AWESOME! My wife had the chicken fried chicken and the hand breaded filet was as big as the plate! Amazing mashed potatoes and gravy. We also got a side of Brussels Sprouts that were HEAVEN!! Trust me on those and get them no matter what! Finally we ended our meals with dessert. I had the Apple Crisp a la mode and my wife had a flourless chocolate torte. Probably didn't need either but they rounded out our PERFECT experience. Service, SPECTACULAR, Food PERFECT 10! Everything about this place is was top notch. This is elevated comfort food. When you come in you immediately know why it's packed. Must stop must try destination anytime you come to Woodstock. GET HERE for the...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Once we were seated there was a table that was so obscenely loud, we addressed it with the hostess. We were having to scream to barely hear each other and we were sitting side by side. Instead of having respect for all tables and have the restaurant staff address the volume with the table they move us instead. Our new server acknowledged the previous location in the restaurant being over the top loud due to their volume. We started our meal with green tomatoes that were aesthetically appealing and had a good different flavor, however served cold. The NY strip needed a snorkel for all the liquid it was swimming in along with the potatoes and broccoli that it was served with. The steak was so over cooked that I am not even sure it was an actual NY strip. The waitress even made the comment that it looked gray inside and took the plate to the chef. We ordered the scallops with roasted cream corn as well. The scallops were like eating rubber. The manager didn’t once come to the table to address or apologize for all of the bad service and food. I have called twice to discuss my disappointment with the dining experience. Both times a message was taken for a manager and I have yet to receive a callback. To spend money on trash food and the lack of respect from management to not acknowledge the problem is disgraceful. I am confident if I went up there in person I would get the same service. I am a Woodstock native passing along my experience will spread like wildfire. We all know negative feedback spreads faster than positive ones. Don’t waste your time or money on this establishment. You should go to Ipp’s, The Daily Draft, Prime 120 or Canyon Burger if you are visiting Woodstock for...
Read moreCentury House restaurant has solidified its spot as our family's go-to dining destination, and for good reason. Nestled in the heart of farm-to-table goodness, this establishment offers an ever-changing menu that consistently leaves us in awe.
I'm personally smitten with their delectable Flank Steak, a true masterpiece of flavors and tenderness. But let's not forget the Beet Salad – a vibrant symphony of colors and tastes that's a must-try for anyone visiting. The commitment to using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients is evident in every bite.
The restaurant's revolving menu keeps us excited for each visit, as we know there will always be something new and delightful to explore. However, I must recount a minor setback we encountered during one of our visits. Our waitress, unfortunately, forgot to bring out our appetizer and proceeded to serve our main course. It was a tad disappointing, but what really stood out was how the manager handled the situation. They approached us and asked how they could make things right, which, while well-intentioned, left me slightly uncomfortable.
Despite this one incident, our overall experiences at Century House have been consistently positive. The attentive and friendly staff, coupled with the culinary prowess of the chefs, create an ambiance that's hard to match. I appreciate the dedication to delivering top-notch, farm-to-table cuisine that appeals to a range of palates.
