When I was doing my security system in my new home, our tech said “hey, you should check out my coffee shop up in Canton!” We did, as a courtesy, and were completely charmed by the fun, pop art atmosphere, the emphasis on trying new things, and the quality of the coffee. Unfortunately, Canton is a bit of a drive when there are some much more convenient places in Woodstock, 10 minutes from my home.
Imagine my delight when I saw the placard announcing the grand opening of a Bizarre coffee just that same 10 minute walk from me in Downtown Woodstock!
And BOY have they delivered.
When you enter Bizarre, you’re immediately greeted by a friendly, chipper staff that seeks to prepare you for the day as much as your dose of caffeine.
Their menu has the typical fare, espresso, cafe latte, cappuccinos. All delicious, I’m sure. But I’ve never gone in for them, because what Bizarre has that makes them stand out is, as one sponge who would fit in at this establishment once said: “IMAGINATION”.
Today, I have sipped on a latte whose key flavors were, get this, apricot and Cayenne. Who would try that? Who would chance drinking that, much less putting it on a menu.
Whoever is working in the brain trust of this place, that’s who. Between brilliantly crafted concepts that rotate regularly and consistent execution on those concepts, the menu never feels stale or typical. Truly Bizarre. I imagine that’s the goal.
The food ranges from sweet little trendy chia bowls to the immensely hearty, southern comfort of a Pimento cheese Grilled cheese. You’ll find breakfast and lunch for everyone on their food menu, and as someone who finds herself in the mood for one or the other side of the spectrum, they deliver on both
The atmosphere is cozy and chummy, forsaking single table and chair setups for a bench with tables and chairs. Through no fault of theirs, the location is a little drafty and stays chilly in the winter, if you’re going to come do work, bring a sweater when it’s cold out.
They are not without their flaws as with any establishment, my husband only drinks hot chocolate and has noted that theirs is often served warm, not hot, and the location is pretty small, and unlikely to grow anytime soon given the other businesses by which it is buffeted. But nevertheless I have found my old haunts falling away one by one as this place continues to grow on me. I could not more highly...
Read moreBizarre Coffee, Woodstock This coffee shop was on my list after a hiking trip to Old Rope Mill Park, and it didn’t disappoint. You can immediately tell the quality of the place by looking at the crowd. We arrived around noon, and it was packed with people getting their coffee. My partner ordered a breakfast burrito with tea, and I had a delicious latte paired with a carrot apple muffin—which was amazing.
Despite the crowd, the service was excellent and impressively fast. We decided to sit inside, and one thing I love to observe is how the staff work together. I noticed 8 to 10 people working, all seamlessly functioning as a team. I even mentioned to my companion that you could tell they enjoy working with one another.
The takeaway: If you’re ever in Woodstock, GA, this is the coffee spot to visit. The downtown area is also beautiful, with plenty of shops to explore. Cheers to excellent service and a quality...
Read moreLoved my experience here. Their menu is really diverse. When I walked in I was greeted and encouraged to ask questions if I had any. Their drinks are not pre-sweetened which is so hard to find. I love the sugar free syrup options. I got the iced macha and it was delicious. Ordered the breakfast burrito. It could have used some salt and strangely had halves of cherry tomatoes and whole cilantro in it, but it was pretty good, especially with the hot sauce provided. It is small inside but the option to wait outside and get your order through the window is great! Perfect spot to eat at the outdoor tables. I will definitely be back. There are so many awesome items on the menu to try! Update - I've been trying new things and nothing has disappointed yet. I love their iced and hot tea options, which again are not pre-sweetened, so you can add sugar free options if you'd like. Their Nutter Butter bowl...
