Sizzling Spices — Restaurant in Woodstock

Ever since moving to Woodstock a few years ago, I've been on a relentless quest for authentic Indian cuisine. My search ended with a delightful encounter at Sizzling Spices - Fine Indian Cuisine, a newly minted gem located in the heart of Woodstock. Having opened in June, this captivating spot is nestled on Arnold Mill Road, directly across from the Amphitheater.

Sizzling Spices welcomes you with an intimate and inviting atmosphere. As soon as you step through the doors, you're greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, laying the groundwork for an immersive journey into Northern Indian cuisine.

On my visit, I had the pleasure of sampling their Vegetable Pakora, flavorful vegetable fritters that serve as a perfect introduction to the symphony of tastes that await. Light, crispy, and absolutely delightful, these pakoras are a must-try for anyone venturing the realm of Indian cuisine.

But the tour de force is undoubtedly the Chicken Tikka Masala. Rich, creamy, and with just the right amount of spice, this dish is a sensory overload. Tender pieces of chicken are submerged in a robust tomato sauce, offering an unforgettable dining experience. The accompanying aromatic and fluffy rice is more than a mere side dish—it’s a culinary masterpiece that could hold its own, yet it impeccably complements the Chicken Tikka Masala.

As an added touch, do yourself a favor and order their Garlic Naan. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect when dipped in the masala sauce. Also, their Tamarind Chutney adds a tangy punch that perfectly balances the flavors.

The sweet ending to my flavorful journey was a bowl of their out-of-this-world rice pudding. Its creamy texture and subtle sweetness offer a delightful conclusion to an unforgettable meal.

Behind this delightful enterprise is the owner and general manager, Madhav Rupakheti. With roots in Nepal, Rupakheti and his dedicated team—including a seasoned chef with 35 years of experience, and his own daughter—are bringing the vibrant flavors of Northern India to Downtown Woodstock. He notes, "We love the Downtown Woodstock area, but noticed there was no good Indian food here. We are passionate about providing a great dining experience and delicious food."

Operating from Wednesday to Sunday, 11:30 am to 3 pm, and 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm, Sizzling Spices offers convenient takeout and delivery options through their website, Uber Eats, and DoorDash. Closed on Tuesdays, this gives the team a well-deserved break to recharge and prepare for another week of culinary excellence.

Most entrées fall in the accessible range of $15-$20, making this gastronomic adventure a great value for money. Sizzling Spices has certainly earned a spot on my list of favorite eateries, and I can hardly wait for my next culinary...

my wife and I went in for dinner on friday feb 2nd, the first thing we saw when we walked in was that we felt very under dressed. the interior was extremely clean and much more on the fine dinning side. we were greeted and everyone was quite nice, and very helpful with questions about the menu. we had the veggie samosa, garlic naan, the mixed grill and rice pudding. the samosas were fresh, piping hot and the perfect balance, crispy, aromatic, well seasoned. the naan had plenty of little char spot, very garlicky, soft and crunchy. we got the mixed grill to try everything the tandoor had to offer and we were not disappointed. the rub on the half chicken was a pleasure to eat, the chicken kebab meat, was crispy, fall apart tender and painfully juice despite being white meat. my favorite part was the lamb, when i first bit into it i though it was going to be tough, but it was tender with a great crust and the seasoning on the meat was phenomenal. we then had the rice pudding and mango lassi. the pudding was not the consistency i expected, but the flavor was well beyond what i wanted. the lassi is extremely thick but not lacking in flavor, or freshness. we were hesitant on the price of the food, until we started eating. the phrase we used the most during our dinner was "wow, this is so good". the only regret we had was that we didn't know about this place sooner and we will definitely be...

We have made Sizzling Spices a regular meal stop for us in recent weeks. Their menu offers a variety of HALAL dishes that are all very tasty.

At this evenings dinner, we started by sharing the Butter Chicken Samosa (2 per order) and Mango Lassi. Both were delicious.

For meal, we shared a variety of dishes including the butter chicken, lamb korma, lamb vindaloo, lamb biryani, and tandoori chicken. The family rated their meals as follows:

Butter chicken- 3.5/4 ~ the taste of the sauce reminded us more of a tikka masala and didn’t match the flavor of the sauce that was presented with the samosa for appetizer. Lamb Korma- 4.5/5 Lamb Vindaloo- 4/5 ~ asked for very spicy and didn’t come out as spicy as expected; taste was still there Lamb Biryani- 4/5 Tandoori Chicken- 4/5 ~ came out sizzling hot and filled the entire restaurant with its spice smell! It tasted just as good as it looks.

We all enjoyed our meals and trying each others food as well. The garlic naan was paired well and was needed to soak up the extra sauce.

Overall, the space is always welcoming and kept clean, the staff are quick and friendly, and the food is always delicious. We will continue to stop when in need of tasty...
