This place is service forward. We were the only ones in an hour before close so we had their full attention, but I feel like if they had more guests they would've been just as attentive.
The gentleman, presumably the owner, is a real down to earth dude. Honest and funny.
We split a platter and I'd say it's more than enough food for two people. It was suggested to us to get extra bread because it would've been easier to pick up the food with. I started to at first, but discovered it was easier to just dig in under the platter and get a scoop of bread and whatever mixture was above it. ..not the most authentic approach, but it worked for us.
The food itself was delicious. With so many options you're bound to favor one thing over something else. I loved the mixed veg in the middle. I thought the lentils were a little underseadoned. Everything in-between was wonderful.
We started the meal the Chai teas. Not too sweet with a good balance of spice. I could've easily ordered another at the end of the meal. Don't not get the Chai tea.
Bathroom on site, plenty of good seating. Parking seems to be in the back. We didn't turn quick enough and it's a one-way street so we parked...
Read moreTruly delicious! Fresh, homemade dishes. Authentically friendly service. Comfortable, unassuming dining area. We were in Worcester for the America East Women's Swim & Dive Championships, and searched Yelp for hints at local culinary treasures. We are DELIGHTED to have found Fatima's Cafe.
We live in Minneapolis, MN, an area with a strong East African community and several wonderful restaurants to choose from. Fatima's Cafe was truly in our Top 3 for Ethiopian cuisine. The samosas had a light, flaky pastry, the filling was fresh and well seasoned, and they were prepared to perfection - not heavy, greasy or chewy. We also ordered the Anjero Platter, a sampling of the best Fatima's Cafe has to offer. Each stew has freshly prepared, well seasoned/flavored and was well complimented by the underlying anjero flat bread which was light and tender. The owners hosted us with true delight and friendliness - you could truly tell our presence was appreciated and that they were proud to present their best to us.
We can't wait to return for next year's swim meet - and another visit to...
Read moreThis restaurant was just a random pit stop in a 4 hour drive to Maine from New York. I didn't know what to expect from my first ever tryst with cuisine from the African subcontinent. However, as an Indian who misses Indian home cooking in the Americanized Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised at how the food here was way more aligned with Indian tastes than anything offered in the former.
The Chicken sandwich I ordered was basically the Indian street food equivalent of Paratha(an Indian bread ) with a fillimg of Chicken and veggies that is similar to an Indian Roll. My friend ordered a vegetable platter with African bread and I found that it was almost like the popular breakfast fare of curry served with Uttapam , a rice based Bread that is popular in South India.
My only minor critique was that the flavors could have been more easily spiced up with more salt but the owner explained that this had apparently been done to accomodate to local tastes. But you can request them separately to make the food more spicy of you want to get a more...
