We decided to try Nuovo for our Anniversary dinner. The restaurant itself is nice and has a good atmosphere. The main disappointment was the service for us. After we were seated we put our order in for drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer came out well before we received our drinks. We ordered an appetizer from the specials menu - burrata caprese. The tomatoes were barely ripe and the 'burrata; did not seem like burrata, but just regular mozzarella. For it being summer I would expect fresh tomatoes, not something you get from the grocery store. Otherwise, the flavors of the balsamic, olive oil, etc. were okay.
Next up, entrees....I ordered the cioppino (Sauteed shrimp, calamari, mussels and fish of the day in olive oil, garlic, shallots, and roasted red peppers, with marinara sauce) and added pasta and a lobster tail and my wife ordered the rigatoni bolognese. Both dishes came out scorching hot (a plus in my book). After a few bites I noticed my dish was missing the lobster tail. After notifying the waitress, it didn't come out until 15 minutes later when I was half way done my meal. I expressed my disappointment and she apologized. The fish of the day in the dish was salmon which I've never seen before, it's always a white fish in cioppino. I was not a fan of this, salmon and red sauce just don't mix in my book and especially does not go in cioppino. There was plenty of calamari and mussels, but only two small shrimp (another big disappointment). The flavors were okay otherwise. My wife liked her bolognese. We ran out of bread mid meal and the waitress asked if wanted more and we said yes, please. The bread never showed up, nor did she come back to the table for a while. They did bring over two glasses of champagne for our anniversary. In my opinion, they should've removed the lobster tail from the bill or a dessert on the house, but did not. We will not be...
Read moreI went to Nuovo with high expectations after seeing a majority of positive reviews on here and I honestly really wanted to like this place. The restaurant is beautiful inside and after sitting down I was fairly positive my girlfriend and I had made a good decision coming here. We both split a bottle of red wine and that was unfortunately the high point of the dinner. The bruschetta was absolutely drenched in balsamic and the bread was a French bread that had not even been toasted. The chicken parm? I’m not trying to be mean but it was something out of Olive Garden. It was so obvious that it was pre packaged chicken and definitely not homemade. Linguine was over cooked and the red sauce tasted again like something bought at the store. To me the quality of the chicken parm all around was just absolutely inexcusable. I mean this is an Italian restaurant is it not? My girlfriend, who does not have high standards when it comes to food, got shrimp risotto. It tasted rubbery and bland. The actual risotto was decent and edible at least... So she says. For the prices we paid it felt like we had been taken for a ride. I don’t hold any hostility towards this place but I definitely would...
Read moreBest restaurant in Worcester hands down. To start, the cuisine is head and shoulders above "those other places" on Shrewsbury street. This is real food, not just a photo op. An extensive menu showcases the strengths of the kitchen (and they are innumerable!) Don't miss out on the 'Starters' section (the baked brie is absolute heaven.) Exquisite sauces top extraordinarily fresh and superbly presented entrees. Seafood is always amazing but you absolutely cannot go wrong with anything on the menu; each meal is truly a work of art. The best part of the experience is the people; the staff makes Nuovo "The Best Restaurant in Massachusetts." Alex and Loreta will make you feel like family from your first visit (and believe me, it will not be your last.) Lastly, if you have a chance to go on a weekend evening, you may have the distinct pleasure of hearing Bobby Gadoury on the keys; for those who are not familiar the man is a musical wizard who does both a better Billy Joel than Billy and a better Elton John than Sir Elton. His repertoire is voluminous and he jumps between genres and eras with ease and grace. Nuovo is a...
