Zhang's Food Works — Restaurant in Worcester

First time ordering delivery from here. Driver was quick but stayed in his car to call me forcing me to open my front door when no one was on my porch. The freezing air came into my house for no good reason. He should have dressed for the weather and called or rang my bell from my front porch single family house. He complained of the cold so I invited him inside while I signed my credit card slip.

Ordered egg rolls. Note: you get two egg rolls for the price listed - not one - as the menu would suggest. I had to call to clarify this as the price listed was way too high for only one egg roll. The egg rolls were ordinary and unremarkable. Also ordered chicken chow mein. Looks like all the places in the Grafton Hill area no longer feature bean sprouts in their chow mein and this restaurant is no exception unfortunately. It was ok and they used the rounded dry noodles which we prefer over the flat ones. Also ordered boneless ribs which were $11.50 for a small order! The food was good but not worth the extra price and delivery fee.

They still use MSG for some of their dishes. If you're sensitive to it, you need to ask them to not use it.

The young lady who took our order was very efficient, pleasant and accommodating. She did neglect, however, to inform me of an extra charge for an extra small duck sauce which I wouldn't have ordered had I known I was to receive a medium duck sauce with my order which would have been plenty.

My delivery charge was $3. totaling more than $37 plus tip. for two people. I can get this food at lower cost elsewhere near me.

I might try a specialty dish or two if I'm feeling like the extra cost would...

Food tasted bland and seemed like it might have been reheated in microwave. Hostess/Waitress was extremely rude and passive aggressive. My aunt, while waiting to use the restroom, which was repulsively dirty, witnessed her rudely kick out and confront a potential customer for using the bathroom first, grilling her to see whether she was there to purchase anything as well. Afterwards saw said customer’s party she was with go to the bar and order a drink and ask where his date went, only to find out from another patron that crazy hostess lady had scared her off. Definitely gave me, my aunt, and the rest of our group bad vibes and they not only lost those two customers, but me and my extended family as well forever in the future. We left almost immediately after them because we felt uncomfortable, definitely not the atmosphere any of us want to to return to after everything being reopened again from the pandemic shutdowns. Also the bar was wayyyyy too bright, the lighting gave me and my aunt a headache. Those bright lights are meant for closing time, not chill and enjoy a beer 9:00pm on Saturday time. Last, but not least their dart boards were barely functional and service was incredibly slow. Probably because the only waitress was busy bullying the customers, but whose to really say I guess. I don’t think Chinese takeout and dive-y bars are the best choice of a fusion theme. Be takeout or be a bar, to try to do both is...

Been 3 years since I last ordered from here and I was delighted again tonight! The food was fantastic. The Pork Fried Rice, Boneless Spareribs and Chicken Fingers were amazing and I'm VERY picky about my Chinese food. The only problems I have are with the portions. I ordered a large of each and an extra small order of the boneless ribs. The small ribs was very small, almost not worth ordering. The large Rice was a bit disappointing. Normally after having 2 plates I still end up with a lot of rice left from most other places. Here I think they should either pack more into the container or make the rice a little bit larger. Oh... And they forgot to send me my can of Coke, which is a MUST when eating Chinese food. I called and they were very nice about offering a future credit for the mistakes. Other than that, I was very very happy with the food tonight.

Also, delivery was fast and on time, good was still hot and only had to pay $2.00 delivery fee (I ordered directly from their website). They also send a baggie with all the sauces you'll need. I just noticed the have an app too. Maybe I'll check it...
